Updating Game

Don't know if this has been asked before and to lazy to search, so my question is if I install Distant Worlds original (no patches), then Shakturi (no patches), then Legends (no patches) and finally Shadows which I do patch is my game completely patched up. I should mention that my game installs are all the original versions i.e. 1.0, 1.5, 1.7 and 1.9

Yes. Once you've patched Shadows you will be up to date.
Shields are useless in "The Briar Patch"...
