Does it make a difference to AI performance if Automatic Replacements or Automatic Withdrawals is toggled on or off?

There is no indication in the manual that the Replacements toggle has any effect on the AI. (In fact, the manual explicitly mentions only the player's units.) Unit Withdrawal is another matter; the manual explicitly states that this should be ON if you want more challenge from the AI when you are playing as the Japanese. (See manual sections 2.4.9 and (identical) 18.1.9.)

I think the LAST thing you need as the Japanese is a more challenging AI lol.
