Sub to Sub combat

Post by jeffs »

IRL, allied subs sunk a large number of IJN subs (IJN subs sank 1 USN sub).

Will sub vs sub warfare rear its` ugly head in AE?
To quote from Evans/Peattie`s {Kaigun}
"Mistakes in operations and tactics can be corrected, but
political and strategic mistakes live forever". The authors were refering to Japan but the same could be said of the US misadventure in Iraq

"Many" is very much an exaggeration, but yes.

The ratio heavily favors the Allies (teens to one). IIRC many of the IJN sub losses to Allied submarines were specific ambushes set up in response to SIGINT information so all those losses will simply not happen in any permutation of WitP. Given the IJNs experience levels the ratio is likely to go completely in the other direction in 1942.
