VR Training?

Post by sam.vanratt »

Hi brethren,
in one of the first missions in the "Deep Core" (With the Dojo Master ...) I was rewarded with 50h of some Virtual Reality training which I'd obtain in the HQ. I did not find it, so I guess it was just a virtual reward, Am I right?
Even when the missions (V1.21) are not the best I've seen, it's impressive how far this game has come! The game is technical as I like it, has some tweaks and since the campaigns something really worth the 50 bucks, especially because everyone could create some for the community!!! As far as I have seen there are not that many available, it's much better than MechCommander x, as anyone who has time (and some talent) could create new ones.
Thumps up!
Cheers mates

When you get training rewards like this from missions they come in the form of development points. You get the points in all three categories, so in this case each of your jocks should have recieved 50 DPs in each category plus whatever they earned during the mission. Sometimes its hard to notice this, expecially if your jocks went up a level or you had a particulary involved mission.

Notice that Deep Core is a _very_ basic campaign, essentially aimed at players who have trouble getting into the game concept. Not for you I'm sure, with your ToS background. You should skip that one and go straight for the others.
v1.2.1 has 2 additional campaigns, and Reliable Royce posted one of his own right here in this subforum.

Unfortunately, Christian hasn't released the full map editor yet. The version that comes with the game doesn't allow you to access all the functionalities - the good stuff basically.

Christian has stopped coding the editor and did send me his latest build a month ago. Not sure how/when to release this final version.

The latest test version expired a few days ago. It'd probably be a good time now [;)] Maybe it could be made available for dl in the VB site?
The "manual", however, needs some work.

The editor has some features not yet supported by the battle module. Work on ToS stopped so it is most likely the editor will be released as is. I don't even have my dev environment on my new computer and don't plan to change this soon. My new hobby is the DoW AI mod. Its real fun and a good challenge.

Thanks for the fast reply and detailed info. The trainings mission was quite heavy especially when you meet a 100t mech in the intro mission (when gearing a 40t), luckily the started fire burned him to crisp and I'd use my 12 MGs to nail him down ;-)
I've just finished the Hold_out campaign. It was really funand the last one a really tough battle!

Yep, as all: to the hilt!
Keep on coding. I hope the campaign plugins will (miraculously I know) get to hundreds (like the vdr project). The possibilities seems endless.

Hi Larkin,
I'd really like to if I have had the time. My tactics are always quitee static so maybe I'm not a real good "Creator" or master to do a good story and meaning.
BUT I will try; better than doing a passive job. U could see my adress in my config (where U surely have full access to).Hopefully I won't need a year until I'd handle the campaign creator.
Cheers

Can't see your email as I have no full access. Send me a PM if you really want it.
