Just bought game (not on steam)

Pandora: First Contact is a science-fiction turn-based strategy game of epic scale. I really enjoyed it! I did mod it right away (one of the AI mods - thanks!) and I played the beta.

The AI attacked me early and I really had to defend myself for awhile.

Quick question - I understand that the AI suddenly turns on your around turn 30 or so, but do they also get more aggressive as time goes on or based upon my actions? It seemed like they would not attack my cities for awhile but suddenly they came at me all at once (I think this was before the big invasion where the portals show up).

(btw - I never read the manual - I just watched one video on youtube and I was able to figure most things out right away. The tool tips were helpful. So I'm not sure what the fuss was that I read.)
