I've tried with DDrawCompat v0.5.4 in Windows 10 and it works well too. The only issue is that you'll play with black bars in both sides. This fixes the lag issues.

Unzip the downloaded file "DDrawCompat-v0.5.4.zip". Copy the extracted file "ddraw.dll" to the game installation folder.

If you prefer the game to be full stretched, without the black bars, in your screen, you've to do the following:
Create a folder named "DDrawCompat" in C:\ProgramData.
Inside that folder copy the file attached in this post and unzip it so that inside that folder you should find "DDrawCompat.ini".
