don not have a compatible direct3d device - uh oh!

Post by musketoon1988 »

Hi

I recently purchased a digital copy of horse and musket - when i start the game an error message appears saying -

"could not find any compatible direct3d devices. Horse and Mukset requires a 1024x768 screen with 32bit colour... Horse and Musket will now exit"

I have a samsung nc10 netbook which does not fill the minimum screen requirement but using the samsung resolution tool i forced the resolution to 1024x768 - still same problem - also it says that the editor works in any resolution yet that won't start either...

I haven't tried the game on my desktop but i was hoping to use the game on the move - any help would be much appreciated.

A dxdiag file is attached

Your video card is not a fully DirectX 9 compatible card, as required by the game. Also, the resolution support could be playing a role here. Some video drivers for netbooks allow the netbook to run at 1024x768 and just "scroll" the screen to see all of the game. I would check for updated video drivers first and see if any of your driver options allow you to more fully support the minimum resolution.

Could you recommend me a program to perhaps fool the program into thinking i have full direct x 9 support or any software that would increase the capabilities. My impression of horse and musket is that it isn't a particuarly computer intensive game - so im hoping i will find a work around - it works on my desktop fine

I recommend you go online and update you graphics drivers. Even the older graphics set ups have posted patches/updates to include the latest DirectX format.
