Move vs. Charge

Post by Ansbach »

I've owned this game a while, but really just now getting in to it...

Is there any reason not to Charge or Melee everywhere you go instead of Move (charge when you are moving straight)? Doesn't seem to be unless you are worried about fighting someone you didn't want to - but if that was the case you probably wouldn't be moving towards them anyway...

That makes sense if you want to move short distances, but the move command actually allows you to move one more space than charge. Be careful of who you charge though, spearman have good defense against that kind of attack.

I know you can go one extra space when charging on horseback, but a Move move let's you go one space farther than a Melee move?

Selecting move, you can move forward 1 space, turn during the reaction phase and move during the reserve phase. If you selected to melee, you would move forward 1 space, turn during the reaction phase and attack ahead during the reserve phase.

The net? You are 1 space further choosing move vs. melee.
