Questions About Persia

I've never invaded Persia so in our PBEM game I had a UK infantry in the Persian Gulf. I declared war on Persia with the UK and then clicked on the infantry but it said no invadable hexes even though there are beach hexes. I then landed it in the port adjacent to Persia thinking that I could move it in to Persia next turn. I had more than enough landing ships so why couldn't I invade?
Secondly, when I take the oil hex worth 30 is that how much oil will be shipped to the UK instead of the current 5?

Oil wise...yes you will get 30.

Not sure about the "invasion".
Honestly it is way better to do it the way you did since you will get more movement than invading...
I will have to "test"

I moved my UK unit this turn and occupied the 30 oil so it should start being shipped to the UK next turn assuming I have enough MM's.
If I occupy Tehran with a USSR unit then I assume all of Persia should become USSR territory so what happens to the oil field hex occupied and currently showing as UK control? Does the UK still get the oil or does it go to the USSR?
I thought I read in a previous post that if USSR conquers Persia by taking Tehran they get 5 PP's per turn. The UK needs the 5PP's more than the USSR so I could move a UK unit to take Tehran which I believe is garrisoned by a zero value Persian unit.

The UK will not get 5 PP. Only the USSR can. It represent the historical Lend-lease route through Persia if Persia is allied controlled (either by the Soviet, UK or US).

Thanks for the replies. If the USSR occupies Tehran they get the 5 PP but since the UK are occupying the 30 oil hex they will continue to get the 30 oil. Is that correct?

The USSR will get the 5 PP as long as there is a strait rail line from the south to the USSR allied controlled. Soviets do not need to control any hexes in Persia from what I understand. They do not come from Tehran, but from oversea.

As a side note, while this is a reasonable assumption, the way control of a conquered country works is that control goes to the nation with the most units in the territory being controlled, not whatever unit conquers the capital. So if you had 2 UK divisions in the southern ports and one USSR armor corps takes the capital, the whole country would go to the UK. This is the same for all conquered nations.
