Malta

We would like to know the impact of the Allies holding Malta on the Axis supply in Africa. At least we could then make decisions as to how important it is.
The reason we are asking this is that in our current PBEM game the UK placed 6 AA in Malta and has been shuttling in submarines to Malta to supply it, since Italian subs have been blockading it. The UK have set their subs to raider mode in case that makes a difference. To date the Allies have lost one DD and two or three subs. The Italians have lost 71 air attacking Malta. The Germans have also lost air but not sure how much of their total of 70 lost has been over Malta.
As the Allies I am also thinking that in addition to the air losses the Axis have had to burn a lot of oil in their attacks. Finally since it January 41, they will soon have to start transferring units to the east if they are going to invade in May or June 41.

one air unit can base in Malta it will tell you every turn how much supply it takes out. it is good sub base as well but those could be based anywhere in the med and still operate

Unlike most history books Malta did not have that large of an impact on Axis supply. The Italians got through 90% of the supply. Where it matters occasionally is when they sank say a transport of tanks or fuel.
