This is NOT an update which can be applied to an existing game. You may, however, copy any record you see fit into an update you create yourself.
This update ELIMINATES many dozens of locations, so it will screw up an existing game that uses those location slots.
Any location determined to have no meaningful economic or military value was eliminated. Enough slots were freed up
to make future updates feasible for a long time.
The only records changed since the last update are in the H (Leader) and L (Location) files. All records changed were in Russia or China, or the off map location Alma Ata. This has become similar to all the other major locations (US East Coast = New York City, Soviet Union = Tomsk, etc). I discovered that there was an oil industry in that country since 1912, and so had to add oil and oil refineries. For that reason I reviewed the location comprehensively.
I discovered an error in the aircraft plants at Irkutsk. A US type was being built there. So I researched the actual types made there, and also reviewed the location comprehensively. I found considerable data on its economy and worked that in.
Many (most) locations in Russia and China were reviewed and, if not eliminated, were reworked. Often expanding industry. Every unit at those locations was also reviewed. Those not assigned a commander when they enter play were assigned one.
The senior commander in 1941 at Alma Ata was renamed with the correct name, and given the rank of Allied General.
This revision will be used as a basis for testing and demonstration of RHS.
The next update will focus on updating pwhexe.dat files for seasons which follow the game start (Winter 1941) pwhexe.dat file, which is common to all RHS scenarios.

This post is an update for ongoing games. It also works with new game starts.
All changes were in RHS documentation and scenario files. It is a cleanup with no major significant changes.
Most updated records are aircraft related. There is at least one device change, and there areseveral aircraft record changes, air group changes and leader changes. There are many changes in location files related to where aircraft are produced in Japanese territories.
A couple of Royal Thai aircraft have their official designation added in front of the type name.
There are also updates to the demonstration game files (save game 3, 5 and 7).
The aircraft and engine documentation sheet is almost completed for the December 1941 case. The January 1942 case is
well along. There will eventually be more planning records. This facilitates understanding how many engines are needed, and what future needs will be.
The IJA type order Excel spreadsheet is updated to correct eratta.

This post is an update for ongoing games. It also works with new game starts.
All changes were in RHS documentation and scenario files. It is focused on aircraft, on both sides. Only two documentation files were updated. The one on Japanese aircraft and engine production is functioning for the first time in years. It was done for Scenario 129 - a Japan Enhanced Scenario and the subject of a demonstration game. It features a radical investment in higher durability aircraft on a priority basis, at the expense of near term start of game production of older types. There is a great cost in HI points and in supply points, but within weeks more useful types will appear in useful numbers. As well, within months, significant new types will become available. This includes heavy fighters, heavy bombers, and a Ju-88 armored dive bomber variant. There are NO heavy bombers in Japan at the start of the Pacific War, and its technically armored Ki-51 has too small a payload to have much tactical value. The FW-200 transport is also used - partly representing itself and partly some ultra long range transports for an attempted service to Europe (which are not worth modeling separately). RTAF is given the option of upgrading biplane Hawk III's to CAF Hawk 75's in JES scenarios. RTAF fighters which enter production after the war begins (IF the Axis player is willing to devote engine and aircraft factories to them) fit the Madson 23mm gun (which presumably is copied in Japan). A modest amount of Allied aircraft eratta was corrected. This includes types not present in a scenario, reporting themselves as "Type Name Place Holder" - useful notation for the editor but not for players in game.

All changes were in RHS documentation and scenario files. These are very minor eratta corrections. For example, Vinh (in French Indochina) changes sides to reflect it contains a Vichy French fortress allied (in 1941) with the Axis. The dates that Axis French units cease to exist were also changed in may instances. There are two dates - the 1945 one in strictly historical scenarios and the 1942 one in Japan Enhanced Scenarios both reflect the date the Japanese take over by force (and deception) in each series. Some of these units (such as political sections) change nationality from Chinese to French. I originally used Chinese to get the Chinese table for performance, but now use French for consistency. The only documentation changes were to the Axis Aircraft and Engine Production spreadsheet - which is slightly updated.

This update contains only documentation and scenario files.
There are changes to axis aircraft documentation (JAAF Plane List 1, General Plane List 1, Plane List 3) and the
axis and allied general plane lists. Also to the Axis Plane List (which includes many non - Strategic air list.
A new species of Ki-51 is added. It is Slot 920 Ki-51. It is a pure unarmed reconnaissance type..

The Repulse 6/43 upgrade in all scenarios has its Troop Capacity and Bulk Cargo Capacity shifted over by one column, so they end up being Bulk Cargo Capacity and Liquid Cargo Capacity instead.

Re: RHS Thread: PLANNED UPDATE 8.20
I am installing RHS on a new desktop. I will begin work on a new RHS update after reviewing the game with Mifune. The new update will be integrated with changes in WITP software.

Re: RHS Thread: Planned Update 8.20
For various reasons, the plan to do update 8.20 was not executed. After discussion with Mifune, I am in a review process which will result in finally creating this update. For technical reasons, this update will bring RHS scenarios in sync with Matrix updates in the first instance. Then we will do a test game and consider RHS changes after that review.
