Can't hear any music

Well, at it says in the title, no music is playing in game. Music is switched on in the menu, all other sounds are playing.

Also no battle "background sound", only the actual sounds of button clicking and direct battle sounds.

what other sounds are you saying is missing?

as that's sound about all of them in game etc

just the music is muted in game?

just press the unmute button as per guide and then also the music should play, maybe you caught the button by mistake?

Unfortunately, still no luck with the ingame music and background battle sounds.
I'm not sure about what exactly you mean with the "unmute button", as I didn't find anything about that in the manual(s), but these are my settings. I can hear the "effects", but I can't hear "background":

Same here. Just sound effects, no music. Everything is on.

i go through each option and log out, then try and see if each one in the list works, for background first, then sound effects etc

Can you turn on the log file and see if it says anything about the sound? It would be in Documents/My Games/The Operational Art of War IV. It's called ToawLog

Just checked the log file, it doesn't contain anything about sound or background.

Can you rename or delete the Opart 4.ini file from Documents/My Games/The Operational Art of War IV directory? That will reset everything to defaults.

Didn't work, still no music or background.

OK, I'll recheck the source code but the calls are pretty similar between the two. The difference is that the music repeats while the foreground sounds ones don't.

Yes, I'm still here. I just have absolutely no idea how to fix your issue. It's frustrating for me too since I'm not sure how to even troubleshoot it. I basically tell the library to play a sound.

It's a long shot, but can I get your username on your computer? It's possible that if you're using non-English characters in your name it might be causing problems.
