Allied Turn #: 89

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
Switzerland +6% Axis
USA invests spent chit back into Sweden

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
I’m particularly annoyed at the UK only getting a tiny bit more than 200 MPP/turn. I will have to forgo any other expenditure if I want to invest in Advanced Tanks again.

S&I hit on a German Battle Cruiser in the port north of Bremen. Not quite ready to go after it and any other KM ships staged forward, but am prepping for such next turn.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – INF Corps (shattered), Elite INF (shattered). 2 MPP before EOT
USA – Medium Bomber (no upgrades). 119 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 66 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 123 MPP before EOT

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
None

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
UK AA 86% -> 100% completed (lvl 3)
USSR Ground Attack completed (lvl 2)
USSR Production 66% -> 88%

Allied Turn #: 90
Admiral Scheer feels the Bearn

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
None

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
Wow, was expecting some kind of air defense for Gneisenau and Admiral Scheer. Instead I didn’t take AA fire nor had to use any CVLs to escort the raids. I decided not to use the extra CVLs to attack that sub in port just to be safe, if the other GE Maritime Bomber is around it will have to go through full strength CVL Fighters on intercept.

Got an S&I hit on the GE sub east of Mombasa. I have a UK DD on its tail, 7 hexes north east of it and a French DD on its way to Cape Town to try and cut it off at the edge of the map.

Operation Sardine (invasion of Sardinia, yes I know groaner of a name) is postponed so the UK can invest in Tank research.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Ground Attack research (lvl 3), Elite INF (shattered). 61 MPP before EOT
USA – FTR. 86 MPP before EOT
UK – Advanced Tanks research (lvl 4). 3 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 147 MPP before EOT

Not using Russian bombers yet, so better to start investment in the next level of Ground Attack instead of upgrading the existing bombers. It’s painful to do this as I want/need to buy back units. I would also like the USSR to invest in AA 3 eventually.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
None

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
UK Production 19% -> 38%
US C&C 54% -> 70%
USSR C&C 64% -> 86%

I’m stunned at how far ahead UK Production is (lvl 3 and now 38% on the way to 4). I’d happily trade some of that to get the USSR to lvl 2 Industry.

Allied Turn #: 91

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
None

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
I think he disbanded the IT and GE HQs.

Operation Sardine is in the water. UK & US Elite INF that will assault Cagliari, supported by 2 Fighters, a TAC, 2 CVLs and a CV. I would like to kill the GAR in one turn, but if not am prepared to hit the supply so that little to no reinforcements can build the unit back up.

Operation Flim Flam is implemented. Simply scouting the Danish towns with some CVLs to try and scare him into thinking I will be landing there soon.

Operated the South African Maritime bombers back to Cape Town for the time being. Additionally a French DD ports in Luderitz Bay and will be able to patrol, probably permanently, Cape Town as well.

A USA GAR set sails from NY to provide partisan duty in North Africa.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Elite INF (shattered), INF Corps (shattered). 1 MPP before EOT
USA – None. 256 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 13 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 171 MPP before EOT

USA saving money as Heavy Bombers will complete at the end of the turn (99%) and I want to reinvest.
Upgrading Ark Royal (UK CV) naval weapons cost 70 MPP, which is a huge amount when you are only making 208.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
Sweden +8% Allies
Brazil joins the Allies

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
USA Heavy Bombers completed (lvl 2)

Allied Turn #: 92

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
None

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
UK CVLs in Dogger Bank/North Sea go back to ports in the UK for replacement aircraft, Naval Weapons upgrades and Fighter upgrades (which will fire at the end of the turn sitting at 99%). 2 UK CVLs in the Western Med make port in Algeria for the same upgrades.

A UK FTR in Libya is sent back to England.

2 USSR INF Corps and an Armor Corps (needs Tank 3 upgrade) came in to reinforce Vatutin south of Rostov.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Armor Corps (shattered), INF Corps. 3 MPP before EOT
USA – Heavy Bomber research (lvl 3), Strategic Bomber. 19 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 1 MPP before EOT
FF – Tactical Bomber. 2 MPP before EOT

UK spent most of her money repairing units, still a lot left to repair.

USA has now bought all but 1 Strat bomber, maybe a little heavy as I would like to buy some of the TAC, and more ground units.

With the breather in Russia, I decided to buy back the destroyed Tank. I was 6 MPP short of reinvesting in AA (lvl 3) so bought a fresh (i.e. killed out of supply) INF Corps as that was still cheaper than buying a shattered MOT. I would have had to not fully upgrade the MOT, but on the other hand it would show up sooner. I’d rather save a few MPP and get the shattered discount on its upgrades.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
None

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
UK Advanced Fighter completed (lvl 3)
UK Long Range completed (lvl 2)
USSR Advanced Fighter completed (lvl 3)

Allied Turn #: 93

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
USA reinvests their chit back into Sweden after the diplomat returns from vacation (i.e. I forgot to do this last turn).

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
Sending the Greek CA and a CL from the western Med fleet to choke out the Seychelles port.

Brazilian DD starts its way towards South Africa, doesn’t naval cruise and stops short of the storms. A Canadian DD is also on its way and is just south of Monrovia.

An Elite INF and an AT unit sent from the Stalingrad area to Volkhov.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Advanced Fighters research (lvl 4). 9 MPP before EOT
USA – Paratrooper. 37 MPP before EOT
UK – Advanced Fighters research (lvl 4). 8 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 26 MPP before EOT

UK chose to reinvest in Fighter research instead of upgrading units this turn.

Purchased 101st Airborne (paratroopers) for the USA. I have an idea: If Pescara Italy is not defended I can launch an air drop from Olbia Sardinia and take Pescara. This will allow me to sail into the Adriatic and stay there safely and thus the whole backside of Italy opens up to Invasion.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
Saudi Arabia +7% Allied

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
UK Ground Attack 49% -> 69%
USA ASW 64% -> 86%
USSR Production completed (lvl 3)
USSR Industry completed (lvl 2)

About %$#@! time Russia got level 2 Industry, they are lagging behind. Looks like next turn or two will be research investment for Russia as well. Russian income went up 72 MPP this turn, and USA 7 MPP.

Allied Turn #: 94

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
USA reinvests the chit in Saudi Arabia

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
UK sending planes across Libya, as I can’t really afford to operate them and there is no rush.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Industry research (lvl 3), Elite INF (shattered), INF Corps (Shattered). 2 MPP before EOT
USA – Paratrooper. 51 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 3 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 50 MPP before EOT

UK upgraded 2 CVLs in Algeria, and 1 FTR in England and repaired one point of damage to a Strat Bomber and that was all her money.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
Sweden +6% Allied

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
USA Advanced Fighters 89% -> 100% completed (lvl 3)

I‘d put a fighter in an AA covered 2nd row fortificatiion at Stalingrad. That would at least uncover his first 2 rows. I do not like this immense passive viewrange but Lothos clearly stated it is intended and robbed ground units of all their vision. So…

I understand your logic, but here is mine:

1) I did not know for sure that Case Blue was truly over.
2) To the best of my knowledge, the majority of the Luftwaffe was still nearby and I did not want to get a FTR splattered and leave a hole in the line.
3) I did not want to give up a fortification level 4 defensive land unit position AND a useful unit to counter attack anything that hit my line for some spotting (at least at this point).
4. My priorities, in order, are (were): 1) Defend Stalingrad; 2) Defend Moscow; 3) Keep the Caucasus from getting overrun quickly with whatever good turns there were remaining; 4) Defend Volkhov to the point of at least making it a pain in the backside.

From his recent tries it seems to me that OCB has no chance in hell to pierce even your first line of fortified units.
Especially with TRP low AP and ZoCs on everyone and their Mom :D

At the time I did not know how bad off he was.
Even still I was in no shape to launch my own offensive and face counter attacks with the few offensive units I had and not enough INF sponges to screen them.

Allied Turn #: 95

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
USA reinvests chit into Sweden (now at 0% Axis).

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
I reduced UK -> USSR convoys from 30% (max) to 25%, actual autumn reduction 159 MPP -> 133 MPP (matching US -> UK convoy).

Maritime Bomber operated to Mogadishu.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Production research (lvl 4), INF Corps (shattered) x2, INF Div (Shattered), GAR. 13 MPP before EOT
USA – Tank (not fully upgraded). 9 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 2 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 3 MPP before EOT

French upgrade Armor Div in Guyana.

USSR GAR is destined for Partisan duty in Tabriz.

UK upgrades Ark Royal (CV), a FTR in England, CVL in Portsmouth, and provides Elite reinforcement for a CVL in Newcastle. Still have 3 CVLs and 4 FTRs to upgrade (one of which also needs 6 points of damage repaired).

I forgot to have the USA reinvest in Advanced Fighters.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
None

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:

Allied Turn #: 96

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
None

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
I forgot to use the UK Strat bombers this turn.

Bradly lands in Sardinia and several planes rebase there as well. To make this fully functional will require a 2nd HQ.

Ike replaces Arnold in Gabes.
USA MOT lands in Bone. It needs upgrading but will eventually be put on an AVL from there.

I sure as hell would like to know where he’s weak.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Armor Corps. 39 MPP before EOT
USA – Advanced Fighters research (lvl 4). 15 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 13 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 32 MPP before EOT

UK Carriers are now all upgraded. Still have Fighters in North Africa to repair and/or upgrade along with some ground units too.

USSR builds the last Armor Corps in her force pool. I chose this as it takes 8 months (June 43). I’ll work on the 3 INF (1 shattered), MOT (3 shattered), and ART next. Then I have 3 Mech Corps, Bombers (3 TAC 2 MED) and 9 Armor Divs.

I’m debating if I should buy the Brazilian Medium Bomber for the USA.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
None

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
USSR C&C completed (lvl 2)

Allied Turn #: 97

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
None

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
So I just discovered that land units can be upgraded to AA 3 (and maybe higher?). I knew that ships could, but don’t see the need to upgrade the ships, at least not now. I would have invested in AA 3 a lot sooner (particularly with the USSR) if I had known this, so mea culpa.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – AA research (lvl 3), ART, INF Corps (shattered), MOT (shattered). 6 MPP before EOT
USA – AA research (lvl 3), HQ Truscott (7). 8 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 20 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 61 MPP before EOT

UK upgrades more planes, still have the SA FTR to repair and upgrade, plus the Strat bombers, but figure I will wait for either bad weather and/or Heavy Bomber Tech to complete them. Also have some Maritime bombers that need Long Range upgrades too, but that is a low priority.

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
USA Mech at Boston put on an AVL
USA Rangers (Elite INF) put on an AVL off the western shore of Sardinia
USA MOT and Armor Corps put on AVLs from Gabes Tunisia
USA MOT put on an AVL from Bone Algeria
UK INF at Benghazi put on an AVL
Ark Royal cruises to Red Sea on way to Aden after Italian Human Torpedo attack (grrr….)

Invasion of Sicily or Italy is not imminent; I am merely trying to spread some of the costs over multiple turns. Though it is very unlikely I will wait for the Mech on the East Coast to arrive.

FYI, USA only gets Long Range Amphibs, no short range ones.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – ART-SP, INF Corps, MOT (shattered). 22 MPP before EOT
USA – None. 61 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 31 MPP before EOT

Allied Turn #: 100

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
None

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
I’m expecting the same nonsense as last winter, with a majority of the Luftwaffe in Italy and away from the Russian winter. I will need to be careful with my ships.

Patton has reached Gibraltar and will be going to Sardinia to help support the planes, for now.
Another US MOT corps loads onto an AVL at Bone.

If he did bring the Luftwaffe, then he will likely kill the UK INF Corps in Palermo. Still it will tell me they are here and the damage to Italy’s National Morale will already have been done. If things go sideways I could maybe hit Greece or Albania if they are lightly defended.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – ART-SP, INF Corps (shattered), INF Corps. 31 MPP before EOT
USA – Strategic Bomber (no upgrades). 13 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 2 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 148 MPP before EOT

Repairing the Ark Royal 3 points (7/10) at Aden cost 105 MPP!
I bit the bullet and decided to build the last US Strat Bomber. Another HQ, some TAC another FTR maybe and ground troops. Maybe starting with another Armor to have for D-Day.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
Sweden +6% Allied

That should put them positive and shut down the convoy, will check on my next turn.

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
USA Advanced Fighters 9% -> 26%

Allied Turn #: 101

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
Train Danish and Norwegian troops in Sweden – No
(pay 15MPP x 3 turns and get a INF Div in Oslo and Copenhagen if/when the countries are liberated).

While an economic bargain, INF Divs won’t mean much or will likely be useful by the time they arrive.

Diplomacy:
None.
The Swedish Convoy line has indeed been shut down.

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
Ark Royal cruises back to Red Sea. UK Strat Bombers are given elite strength (England in snow).

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Armor Div (shattered), TAC. 145 MPP before EOT
USA – TAC, HQ Arnold (8) (no upgrades). 9 MPP before EOT
UK – None. 29 MPP before EOT
FF – FTR (no upgrades). 2 MPP before EOT

The French Fighter will be hopelessly out classed, but I consider it more a recon plane and will likely use it for nothing more than passive scouting, and maybe AA soaking.

If I can get the Russian TAC built before August I wind up with a bonus one, two left to build now. The Tank Destroyers and Mech Corps are also very tempting, but I figure I might as well wait for AT level 2, which should be in a couple of turns.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
None

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
USA Advanced Tanks completed (lvl 3)

Allied Turn #: 102

Beginning of Turn Decision Events:
None

Diplomacy:
1 US chit into Saudi Arabia (forgot to invest last turn).
I’m not noticing an increase in income in the Saudi convoy line yet, and if I don’t after the next successful diplo here, I may abandon it.

Actions taken not visible on opponents Replay:
Dropped UK –> USSR Murmansk convoys another 5% (now at 20%/80 MPP per turn). If the Luftwaffe bombers stay in Italy for Spring/Summer I will drop this even further or cancel it.

Naval Cruised a US CL east of the UK DD that popped the U-boat off Oman.

USS Ranger (Air wing str 4), and CA (str 8) along with a couple of French DDs off the coast of Portugal, on their way to England for repairs.

MPP expenditures (excluding reinforcements and upgrades):
USSR – Amphibious Warfare research (lvl 1), Paratrooper, TAC. 310 MPP before EOT
USA – Advanced Tanks research (lvl 4). 6 MPP before EOT
UK – MOT (shattered). 6 MPP before EOT
FF – None. 23 MPP before EOT

More units loaded up on AVs and an AA from Alexandria loaded on an AVL. This is to help defend whatever makes it to the beaches.

I have Soviet a ‘dirty trick’ that I’m sure some already know about that would be better with a level of Amphibious warfare under the belt. It should move pretty quickly with the USA at level 2 and nearing 3, the UK at 2 and I presume Germany at least at level 1.

Soviets saving money for next turn when they will have the next level of AT (at 99%), for: Tech reinvestment; Upgrades and AT/Tank Destroyer purchases.

Still have a shattered Paratrooper and another TAC to build. As well as buying more MOT for Soviet human wave attacks.

End of Turn Decision Events and Diplomacy results:
Soviet morale improves as war continues.
German morale suffers as war continues.
Italian morale suffers as losses mount,

End of Turn Tech Breakthroughs/completed research:
UK Heavy Bomber completed (lvl 2)
USSR AT completed (lvl 2)
