Axis Submarines

Post by PRUSSIAN TOM »

Axis U-boats seem to be more vulnerable (in the 1.00.11 version) to Allied DD's?

Sometimes theyWhile on "silent," Allied destroyers seem to go right for my subs. They are on 'silent running, but Allied destroyers go right at them. they evade combat, but are quickly sunk. Should Allied destroyers be able to go right for a "silent" running sub?

Perhaps I am not remembering (I was out-of comission for 6 weeks...surgical rehab), but in the 1939 start, on normal, no FOW, my subs can't seem to avoid Allied destroyers. Is this because FOW is off, or am I missing something else?[&:]

I hope you're recovering well, and if FOW is off then the AI will be able to see your units perfectly, so your U-Boats will really struggle to go hunting.

The potential solution if you want to play with FOW off is to turn it on for the AI's turn, so that it won't be able to find your U-Boats with such ease.

Playing with v1.00.11a and FOW on, my experience is that an Axis submarine in silent running is difficult to detect by Allied destroyers in 1939. Great improvement compared to the earlier versions.

Yep. I also used them as a wolf pack and could even eliminate some Allied destroyers. Especially the new Spanish supply ports are very helpful. So the battle in the Atlantic is fun again - until a carrier combat group appears. [X(][:D]

Once I turned FOW back off, the Axis subs on silent (and even on hunt), appear to be better at evasion. TY for the heads up.
