bolshevism spreading

Post by spydermr2 »

So I'm winning. Serbia's out, Greece is on its last legs, I'm holding firmly in northern France and all of Belgium. Russia is smashed, it offers peace, I reject it to conquer them. I'm advancing through Russia successfully, aiming at St Petersburg and Moscow. Even the Ottomans are holding the Brits back in Gaza and Baghdad.
So after I reject Russia's offer and proceed with conquering, I keep getting "Bolshevism is spreading among the dejected German soldiers." Dejected? Tired? They're winning everywhere. This is a ludicrous event, especially given, once I have St Petersburg and Moscow, there won't BE communism. No Soviet. And I'm almost there.
Yet I'm getting hit with an event over and over again that makes zero sense in context. This stupid Bolshevism spreads among your uninspired troops thing should check the freakin' map to make sure you're not WINNING before it starts.
How do I a) turn it off completely or b) the preferable outcome, alter the script so it checks to see if Bolshevism spreading makes any sense at all in the context of who's winning and losing.

Did the German High Command send Lenin to Petrograd? If so, that’s your problem. No Lenin, no spread of Bolshevism to your troops.

That would be it then. I thought if I sent Lenin, it would hasten the disorganization of the Russian military. Since I was already winning against the Russians, I didn't think sending Lenin would matter, since whether in reality he was sent or not, Germany troops are drawing up on St Petersburg and Moscow and ready to end Russia altogether. That happened, there wouldn't be a Lenin or a Soviet. Nothing to spread. But the game apparently thinks "send Lenin, every single circumstance possible = spread bolshevism". At least I know that know, thank you very much for explaining that to me. I can at least plan around the "game" part of that next time. It's a fantastic game, and I only ran into this one thing that is just irritating the crap out of me.

The Bolshevik take-over in Russia inspired disaffection everywhere, and war weary soldiers were as infused with it as anyone, with huge numbers of German soldiers deserting after Russia was defeated while en route from the east to the Western Front. One might have thought their victory in the east would have raised their morale, but the prospect of seeing further combat in the west, coupled with tiredness, casualties and hunger, made many long for simply one thing: peace.

You may want to check the Strategy Guide (accessible from the Launcher, as well as from one of the buttons at the top right of the screen while playing) as it gives all the pros and cons of each decision, in this instance search for DE 619.

Also look at the Notes tab when presented with a Decision, as those can contain additional useful inform and is quicker than accessing the Strategy Guide. Have fun too!
