Advisor and Attached Leader skills usage question.

When an advisor is attached to a leader, do both get skill usage experience when involved in an issue?

The manual says, they both roll and if the Advisor's roll is higher, it will be used. By, both roll, I would expect both to get credit for a skill usage situation?

Only the one with the highest roll will get the skill usage.

If this is how it works, then the game is missing out on a very real world natural and valuable organizational tool of management and training of a Mentor - Trainee system...

If both leaders would receive a skill usage and some experience:

Skilled Advisor is attached to a low skill Leader = Mentor training

Skilled Leader has an attached low skill Advisor = Shadowing training

There is already checks in place to limit this, by costing PP.
There is already built in friction, 'due to differences in personality and ethics'.
Limits on numbers of Advisors would balance how many a Regime is willing to use in a training role and how many are needed for actual support of a critical leader role.

This seems like a VERY big missed opportunity in a detailed organization management game of this caliber...

I don't know about how it should work. It is possible to use this within the current limitations. The trainee just need to roll once to get the skill usage and that will make it spend its xp on this (assuming it had no previous jobs otherwise skill usage from previous jobs will interfere with the process). It's very easy with a SHQ for exemple. If the trainee is the SHQ, let it do one unimportant fight without advisor. Then you can attach the advisor and it will retain the effect of skill usage for several turns.

It works best on military jobs as then the advisor doesn't get the xp from rolls, so the trainee will develop skills quickly.

Those are examples of how it should NOT work... to me those seem like poor planning.

The leader that needs to gain experience and skill usage, actually gets neither of those things if the attached leader has the higher skill used. Then the leader with lesser skills would never get the chance to use and improve those skills.

Skill usage is not linked in anyway with xp gains. It only acts as a weighting to determine where xp will be spent. If you do it as I suggested, the SHQ trainee will develop as fast as if it didn't have an advisor. Also moderately skilled trainees will easily get some skill usage to maintain it even with an advisor attached due to the randomness from the d100 roll.

However I believe that xp gains from playing stratagems may go to the advisor, so for non commanders the system is more restrictive. If your profile allows you to play stratagems that grant xp like cabinet retreat however you can still safely use advisors.

There should be a 75% chance that the leader takes credit for a successful advisor roll, the leader deriving any benefit from said roll.

i will love if it worked in game this way, but im afraid it dont work that way. lets hope they will implement your idea in future patch.
