Flag Mods
Not a lot of mods for this game yet and the recent thread on flags got me thinking that nobody has yet done a German flag mod, so I thought I would make one. I did two mods as shown in the picture below. The first is the Swastika flag and the second is the German Army flag (yes I know some people think that the second flag was just for the Kreigsmarine, but it was used by the army too). For the German flag mod I just used a flag I found on the net and scaled it. It is a little busy to scale to the smallest scale well, but it still looks OK.
The other mod I did is for the German "Roundel" by adding a swastika to it.
To use these mods, download the file in the following message. Go to your Decisive Campaigns/graphics/axis general/flags folder and back up the Flag Nazi.png as well as the GE-NationRoundelfile.png files. Then back up the Flag Nazi.png file in both your Decisive Campaigns/graphics/axis generalBIG/flags and Decisive Campaigns/graphics/axis generalSMALL/flags folders.
To use the German flag mod, copy the Flag German Army - Big, General and Small.png files to the correct folders and rename them all Flag Nazi.png. Copy the Nazi-NationRoundel.png file to the general folder and rename it GE-NationRoundel.png.
To use the Swastika flags do the same thing with the Flag Swastika files.
Edit: An update to this mod is in post #13 below.
Edit 2: Another update to this mod is in post #16 below.

Very very cool. Thnx!
RE: Flag Mods
Excellent Rocketman! Thanks again for your efforts!
RE: Flag Mods
No problem GFelz and bcgames. As I said in another thread, since it is illegal to sell anything including a swastika in Germany, designers never include it in their games and it is up to modders to add it.

RE: Flag Mods
It is illegal in Germany as well as offensive to some. Its your choice if you want it in your game though,so at least we have a choice.

RE: Flag Mods
Thank you a lot for this. Current flags are not only ahistorical but also just strange.
one little comment - it would be much easier if the files provided had the same file names as the files to be overwritten.

I can completely understand why some (hell, probably a lot of) people would be offended by the inclusion of a Swastika in a game. The Nazi regime was a brutal dictatorship that was responsible for the murder of millions and I am glad they lost the war. In fact, I wish there was never a war to begin with. And if anybody wants to defend the Nazis, I don't want to hear it, take your opinions elsewhere where you can be among other like minded crazies (although I hope nobody here is among those crazies).
However, the war is a part of history and part of the reason people like us play these games is because of the historical aspects. One of Vic's other games, Advanced Tactics, is a more general game engine that can be used to simulate many different types of battles, but I never could get into that game because it was a little too abstract. I like history and the chance to replay history is one of the reasons I like WWII games so much.
I personally would rather play a game that recreates history somewhat faithfully and using an ahistorical flag for the Germans detracts from that historical flavor for me. Using a historical flag for the Germans also tends to remind me that the Germans were the bad guys.

Glad you like the mods Borsook. There are two reasons I didn't name the mods the same name as the files to be overwritten. The first is that I do that with all my mods so people don't accidently overwrite their original files. The second reason is because I included two sets of flags in this mod and I couldn't name them the same thing without doing two different downloads.
I worked myself to the bone to provide these mods for you guys, the least you lazy bastards can do is change a few file names! [;)]

That was funny! [:D][:D][:D]
RE: Flag Mods
You could include two folders in the zip file. Anyway it's not the amount of work necessary just it took a little while before I figured what to overwrite with what and in what folder... but the end result was more than worth it!ORIGINAL: RocketMan

RE: Flag Mods
OK, I had a few free minutes and organized the files into a zip folder you can just unzip into your decisive campaigns folder. I have also included both light and dark red versions of the mod and have changed the small swastika flag to try and make it easier to see at the highest zoom setting (smallest flag). The original mod files for the swastika flag mod are included as well (they are the dark red color) and the German Army dark red files are the same as in the original mod.ORIGINAL: Borsook

I also included a Read Me:
The new mod file is attached. These are mods to the German Flags in Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris. There are two sets of mods included, with two colors, light red and dark red, for each mod. The first mod is the German Army flag and the second one is the Swastika flag.
To use these mods, first back up your original flag files. To do this, go to your Decisive Campaigns/graphics/axis general/flags folder and back up the Flag Nazi.png as well as the GE-NationRoundelfile.png files. Then back up the Flag Nazi.png file in both your Decisive Campaigns/graphics/axis generalBIG/flags and Decisive Campaigns/graphics/axis generalSMALL/flags folders. Next, choose which mod you want to use and then unzip the graphics folder under that mod name to your Decisive Campaigns folder.
Legal note: These files may be used in any manner desired as long as it is OK with Victor Reijkersz Designs and Matrix Games and as long as they are not charged for in any manner.

RE: Flag Mods
I found an error in the previous version of the file. The flag file for the folder for "Swastika Light Red" under the "graphics\axis generalSMALL\Flags" was named "Flag Swastika 2.png instead of Flag Nazi.png. The file attached in this post fixes that problem.
