Giving bakc minors to free states ?

Post by morpion »

Hi,

Is it possible to give back re-conquered minors to its original free states ?
For example Sweden lost Finland to Russia earlier in the game, Sweden being French free state, finland was re-conquered but is now under french control.
Is there any way to give finland back to Sweden (to allow more £/MP for it ?)

If no ingame solution exists are there any way to tweak it afterward in the save file ?

thanks !

AFAIK, no. Even if Finland remains conquered under Sweden as a Free State, I don't think it gets doubled money and manpower anyway. So trying to restore Finland to conquered status under Sweden wouldn't help. Finland itself would have to be a Free State to qualify for doubled money and manpower, and it can't. Interesting idea.

Well actually they does get their minor income double : it's happening for Denmark with owned minor Norway = x2 $ and x2 MP
Historically it makes sense as they were the same country
It would be nice at some point to be able to give some minors back to Free state

This is something for consideration later with v1.26. I'm still not convinced that conquered minors should be eligible for the doubling bonus for Free States. The rules do not support this. And if the code is doubling income and manpower, I need to investigate that.

I'd be curious to hear from other players how this should be handled. From a historical perspective, I can agree with you. The relationships of Sweden and Finland, Denmark and Norway, and Naples and Sicily are unique. But if they are broken during a game, should they be allowed to be re-established? We don't want to allow any conquered minor to be so linked to another Free State. But if the doubling is to be considered valid, then I could add some code for a player to allow a re-establishment of those relationships if he controls both minors. So in your case France could "cede" conquered Finland to Free State Sweden. Again, an interesting idea, but I'd like to hear thoughts from others.
