Reproducing the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot

Some tips for reducing air units on a single island. First, you need to bring an air superiority unit in range most probably with Escort Fighter advancement. The goal is to air cover your fleet.

Then, bring your carriers at around 100% effectiveness. Bring them not too far away meaning they must consume one operation point to move where you are planning to be naval intercepted.

And here is an example. The first Naval Air Interception, the 12th Air Division has lost 6 + 1 = 7 steps. The US air superiority unit has lost only 1 step and the Saratoga carrier was slightly damaged.

Then I am moving another stack of CVL with one BB. By the way, having one BB with Large Warships advancement and Screen specialty is very good at shooting down planes. This is not in this example, but with one BB only and 5 CVL, you can see that the AAA losses is 2 here instead of 1 previously.

Again, I am using only one operation point to move there. The goal is to move these two naval stacks back to port immediately to consume almost nothing in terms of effectiveness.

This way you have a CV fleet always around 100% effectiveness to attack or counter attack the Japanese fleet if it comes.

Here, again 6 steps lost for the 12th Air Division. This air unit is out of order for few turns until Japan can repair it. And this is where the subwar is so important. Crushing the Japanese MM fleet will reduce its PP to repair everything. This is not important if the unit is destroyed or not. An air unit reduced to a strength of 7/20 is useless.

And, as you can see, the next turn, Guam and Saipan are secured. The Japanese is surrendering a little too easily compared to history. They must fight to death normally.
