The end was abrupt! :D

A couple of minor typos in the Briefing :
  • Br.1150 Atlantic -> Atlantique (ie. Atlantic is the 1st gen, Atlantique is the second gen)
  • Dassualt -> Dassault

Not that it would change the outcome or the fun you are offering with your scen, but I'd like to mention a few things.
  • RFM is the acronym used when referring to Rafale in the French Navy (for Rafale Marine)
  • The admiral in charge of that theater would Alindien
  • Unit name, such as 17F, is short for 17th Flotilla, so Flotille 17F is redundant.
  • a third MRTT would be deployed, and US tanker support would be requested
  • the French have access to the Italian and German satellites, as the SAR sat is complementary to the French assets
  • the A631 Somme would nowadays be the A 725 Jacques Chevallier
  • the SSN would be more integrated, as its role is to safeguard the HVU. There could be a Rubis SSN in the CG, plus a Suffren, especially with its DDS and some SF commando (introduced with db 503)
  • an Atlantique would be dedicated to patrol around the CAG, as part of the ASW screen
  • in such a context, the La Fayette class frigate wouldn't be there. More around the Comores to track and patrol eg.
  • one more of each ASW and AAW role ship would be added
  • The 17F would be the support flotilla, while the 11F and 12F would be the operational units
  • There would be around 4 ASMP nuke missiles on board. Only the President could order a strike, in the form of an "ultimate warning" should the French vital interests be endangered.
  • the Caiman would be from the 31F, as they've got the rear ramp version, which is useful in the Utility role, as they can carry an M88 engine if need be
  • the Dauphin would be alone, callsign Perdo, acting as plane guard, on demand. Just a few years back, it was still an Alouette III. It could also be a Caiman though.
  • The Air&Space Force's assets might be better off at Djibouti and at Al Dhafra. Note that the Chinese also have a base in Djibouti. That could be fun ^^
  • as for Air Defense, SAMP/T MAMBA batteries would be deployed, not Crotale anymore.
PS: all the C-160, including the Gabriel have been retired. The King Air 350ER ASLR [VADOR] - 2021 could fit in.

Thanks for your reply, did you win or did the ASBM's hit? :P

I'll make some changes based on what you mentioned. I'm still figuring out how to keep the Chinese from going hostile too early.

The ASBM did put an end to any French naval ambitions for the next 20 years, at least.
Yeah, they did hit, hard.
Somehow, I overwrote my save file, I can't post a better AAR, for now.

I reloaded the save and this time it worked.

I guess I was just unlucky. For the record, I'm attaching the save I did just after the initial failed attack.

Great, I've finished the scenario. I managed to keep the French aircraft carrier out of ballistic missile range (what a shame though for the flagship of the French navy to have to flee like that from the navy of what was a third-world country just a few decades ago).

I took advantage of the Rafale's superiority over the Chinese planes to destroy them slowly, by attrition, and to destroy the vanguard of the Chinese fleet.

Then I took care to position my submarine correctly, while making sure to destroy as many helicopters as possible to prevent detection.

Then all I had to do was wait for the fleet to pass overhead, and then it was carnage. I then finished off the Chinese fleet with my Rafales.

(Of course, I was able to do this because the AI is quite stupid. In real life, it would have been a different kettle of fish.)

In the end, the superiority of the Chinese ships is overwhelming, but their fighter jets pale in comparison with the Rafales. The Rafales' lack of anti-ship missiles is ultimately compensated for by the number of guided bombs they can carry. It's possible to send over 50 projectiles at a ship with less than 10 Rafales, which is a lot to intercept!

The lack of jammers in the French navy is incomprehensible.

All in all, an excellent scenario - thank you for creating it!
