Ergonomics implemented?

Post by Adam106 »

A while ago with the 'tiny' update new 'Ergonomics' cockpit (and I think ship) generation/modifier was introduced as a new feature.....but it appears it isn't actually implemented yet?

I'm I going mad, because I can't find it in any DB field? Or is this coming at a later point?

Thanks.

Is this what you are talking about?

It is implemented. The ergonomics determine how long is your OODA Loop for a ship or aircraft.
Here is a generation 4 ship for example:

Even an ace crew needs 36 seconds from detect to shoot.

Here is a generation 6 ship of the same sub-class:

Here it just takes 12 seconds.

It's better explained in thisvideo by P Gatcomb.

No that’s the Combat System Generation and Cockpit Generation.

The devs specifically mentioned an ‘ergonomics’ factor which would provide an additional buff/debuff on top of those OODA loop times.

This is to take into account poor human machine interfaces etc in otherwise modern systems. The link above details this.

Although it appears it’s not implemented yet.

Ergonomics was implemented with the CS Gen updates and is WAD. It acts as a modifier which reduces or increases the final OODA values depending on how good (or bad) the ergo is. Probably worth adding to the DB viewer, though: I've passed the request along.

Thank you. I’ll have to take a closer look comparing similar Gens between platforms. I would be useful/interesting to have this explicit in the DB viewer.

You'll have to look pretty hard; we've applied it only in a few cases. Unlike most of our backfills, e.g. with the related CS Gen, ergonomics isn't really something we could objectively research and fill in; we mostly just use it for modernizations, etc. to indicate that something has better (or worse) reaction time but not so much as to be pushed into a new CS Gen. We've been using it more frequently for platforms we add post-Tiny but historical platforms get Ergonomics data in little pieces.

Once it gets added to the DB Viewer hopefully people can provide suggestions on Ergo values like they do with other data! :)

Got it, for me it was synonymous with ergonomics so far since more modern means more ergonomic in general. It looks to me that ergonomics is basically implemented and calculated directly in DB. But it is very scarce, just 4 submarines, 10 ships and 20 aircraft have an ergonomics that differs from average.
