Finnish Troops

Post by HansBolter »

Following the Event that releases Finish Troops I began to wonder where they were.

Searching the Reinforcement queue I found the three division entering on Turn 31.
I was however, extremely surprised to find them in Rostock, on Turn 31, instead of in a hex along the Finish Border.
Now I have to use valuable rail capacity to move them to the front.
Can someone explain why they appear in Rostock instead of simply marching across the open, German controlled, border (ie...appearing in a hex along the border)?

Additionally, I cannot find a bit of information available regarding when the I Finnish Corps will convert to the Finnish Expeditionary Corps and become unlocked in the Finnish Theater Box so it can be transferred to the map.
Highlighting the unit in the TB only provides the information that it is locked, not anything regarding when it converts and unlocks.

Where am I supposed to find that information?

I guess the limitation is that Axs Units from TBs can only arrive on initially Axis held territory.

Yes, that's the issue. I don't think we had a way to bring them directly to the map. Also, the corps HQ is not part of the units that arrive, so the general event text is misleading.

You could explain it to yourself - for more immersive gameplay - like this:

Since they're gone fight alongside the German units inside the German chain of command and supply there have to be some standardizations like ammunition (rifle and artillery), uniforms, radio equipment, cars and trucks etc. pp. .

This is not the case with the other German allies, as they originally send whole armies with their own chain of command and supply (look at all the different tanks, guns artillery pieces, trucks etc. the Romanians, Italiens and Hungarians have) .

This would have been easier close to the German main depots in the 'Reich' than on the Finnish border or in Leningrad.

The rather lame rationalization provide by the previous poster aside, given the limitations of the engine and forced to choose a Baltic Sea port controlled by the Axis at game start, Memel would have been the obvious choice followed by Koenigsburg.

Rostock simply makes no sense.

Seriously, seriously disappointed in the "misleading" (read by me as an outright lie) Event text.

For me it seems obvious that they would have come to Berlin to have a Parade regarding the capture of Leningrad.
