Ok good at least its of some value to capture so many - and so much better than those PZ1 and 2 so many of my units are still stuck with at the end of 42! The lack of ( any) upgrade control ( actually upgrading OOB as well as individual tanks ) is a real issue for me in this game - I hope the Soviets are the same :)

I can understand how exciting it would be to replace your Pz I and Pz II tanks with T-34s. However, by this point in the war, Pz I and Pz II were only utilized as recon tanks, making such a swap quite unlikely. It's somewhat akin to hoping that your SdKfz armored cars might evolve into Tigers!

Don't forget, though, that while the T-34 was a formidable machine, it was not particularly suitable for recon work due to its poor visibility, ergonomics and communication capabilities. So, even if it sounds tempting, it may not serve that purpose as well as you'd think.

I don't think it matters much in this game, recon vehicles seem to eagerly join frontal battles during the simulation so arguably it would be better.

Since WitE 2 tries to be a simulation to depict the German war time economy for R&D and upgrading the units would be quite laborious for the developers (and probably even a whole simulation by itself - if it could be done at all).
To me it is a fair compromise to have the historical upgrade schedule for both sides hardcoded.
