How to queue ship orders?
In DW:U you were able to have a ship queue up orders so that it would got to planet A, then B, then C, etc. But in DW2 I do not see that option. Is there a way to queue ship orders? Thanks.
Re: How to queue ship orders?
No, not a feature in DW2. Maybe for some future update.

This is such a fucking oversight, to be honest...

Re: How to queue ship orders?
You can purchase as many ships as you can afford and then the production is automatically queued. Or did I miss somesthing here?
Re: How to queue ship orders?
In DW Universe you could give a ship multiple orders, for example you could tell a contructor to build 2 mining stations and a small space port and the constructor would build those without any interaction needed. Personally i found it one of the best features of DW Universe the ability to micromanage without having to babysit it. IN DW2 you give task 1, after its completed you can tell it to do they next thing. You either have to wait or keep switching between things want to have done.
In DWU i could run a large empire with very little automation, without those queues it feels like im not able to repeat that in DW2.
Edit: I think i figured it out, if the global contruction automation is on and the contructor is on automated it will automatic build stuff like an automated contructor in DWU. If the global construction automation is off and the contructor is automated it will not build stuff on it own but if you set a construction job, for example a mining station, at a planet one of the automated constructors will do the task. So there no longer individual queues but one global queue.

Re: How to queue ship orders?
I have to agree. I really hate having my stuff on automatic in the early game, just doesn't feel right, but having it on manual is made next to impossible because units can't be given orders of any complexity.
Why on Earth can't I tell Scout 1 to go there, there, and there, while Construction Ship 1 goes to build a mine there, there, then a research station there? Why would anyone think this wasn't at all necessary because everybody play full auto anyway?
Oh well. Early days for DW2. Feels a bit like a rather earlier DW1 except with an engine and a fundamental design that hopefully allows them to do more stuff. Which is good, because there sure are a few things that could do with some changes down the line.

Re: How to queue ship orders?
I think they are going to do the exact same upgrade path with dw2 as dw1 so we start with a base game and they keep adding on bits as we go along. As you said though we are starting with a much better base to build on and I'm sure modders will have some fun with it especially since Elliot seems open to unobfuscate the code which allows for total redos of the game along the lines of the bacon mod only easier to develop. Get a few of the big star wars and star trek mod teams interested and this could blow up real good. Sales of sins of a solar empire are still brisk and it gets regular patches because of the AAA quality total conversion mods there are for it which drive interest.

Re: How to queue ship orders?
Misunderstanding from my side. I thought you meant orders for queuing buidling ships. Yes I agree, this should be done ASAP. You also can do that in Stellaris.
Re: How to queue ship orders?
I know it is not what you wish for, I miss it also. Especially for the explorer ships.
Because I do not care that much for what ship builds what station.
I would queue it and then later rearrange it as shown below. I guess you already figured that outby yourself.
just my two cents:
you can queue stuff with keyboard shortcuts.
build a mine and so on. look at the shortcurs in the options. and in a factory, you can select the ships in a queue and sort them in a way you would prefer.

I give this a +2 because its annoying as hell trying to move ships manually to each planet to mine

The new global queues and the menus to interact with them are the intended way to queue things in DW2, which allow better management at the empire level.
We're also considering adding individual ship queues back in for those who prefer to micro-manage their ships and play more manually.

Doesn't it seem a little bizarre for a game whose selling point was the level of detail to which you can control things, to remove some ability to control things in detail to force more empire level management. It's not like we can't have both.

seems to be a common thing now, chopping up games to sell as DLC, even most basic features

Re: How to queue ship orders?
At some point, I think it might be interesting to have a topic on what the game is meant to be and what it isn't meant to be. And what us players thought it would be and what we perceive it to be. Could be an interesting exchange of perspectives. Not right now when everything is in a frenzy and all us players are totally new to the game, but at some point when things quiet down a bit.Erik Rutins wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 3:23 pm The new global queues and the menus to interact with them are the intended way to queue things in DW2, which allow better management at the empire level.

From my (very limited) level of experience, it seems like manual scouting wasn't really a big concern. It's there as an option, much like taking the stairs to the 14th floor is also "an option". Manual notes of what is and is not scouted is seemingly flat out not intended, be it in-game or offline on paper, as there is no way to reference particular ingame areas. There is also no "explore area" or "explore system" order, as far as I can tell. No "explore sector" either.
Most of the ship design shenanigans are totally gone and hull slots really put a stick in the wheel in terms of figuring out new stunts. Manual positioning of bases is not intended either, cearly. Manual designation of which ship goes to which area to build is not a thing either. Just click a button and let the automation sort everything out.
Back in DWU, I'd make a note sheet for each game and put notes in with all the interesting things I found. I'd make a galaxy grid too and check them off one by one. Indicate where stuff was in that grid. I'd have construction ships for particular areas, to avoid something from 1D moving down to 5A to build a gas mine. This was doable, even feasible. I could keep it up until my empire was so big and the tech so advanced that it really didn't matter anymore.
But here in DW2, and at this particular time, I just don't know what my job is supposed to be. Particularly not in the pre-warp stage.
Anyway, sorry for rambling and thank you for answering.
