Good show Matrix.

well, it's a kind of hyde park forum, people write about everything here, e.g. yeltsin's death, stinking harley-davidson service or giant robots in ww2, it's not only devoted to games...

besides, if someone intends to blast the USA with cute little snide remarks, they just will, even if this thread hadn't been started...

the purpose of my post was rather to start an interesting discussion on the basis of the above 'article' and see if people agree with it, as i find some of its statements absolutely hilarious [:D]

and it has nothing to do with Matrix...

My vote is Rome.
Rome was a powerful Empire bent on conquering the known world and basically achieved it's goal.
USA is a nation that doesn't want airplanes flying into it's skyscrapers, it doesn't look like it will be able to stop that.

No, because Americans write today's history, so Rome will eventually be forgotten...

Americans make today's history, unlike some impotent little European countries that have already been forgotten.

Saying that Americans make today's history is a little like saying that the family dog makes a pile of crap in the middle of the living room.

The people who are really making history right now are the Akhbar brothers, Allahu "the Fuse"" and "Crazy" Al.

Tomorrow? Do the concepts "no tickee, no raundly" and "one flom corrum A and one flom corrum B" ring a bell?
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

Yes, but remember, only America really matters...

Wonder if Doggie's head is going to explode once China and India finally surpass the West, including Festung Amerika...

I apologize to my American friends on this forum. I know that 99% of citizens in the United States are ordinary, good people who just want to live their lives in peace and don't wish harm to anybody. Unfortunately, extremists like Doggie and his Steakhouse groupies shriek so loudly that they drown out everybody else. Equally unfortunately, they're incapable of grasping the fact that other people can disagree with them and still not be their mortal enemies...

Giving this type people the silent treatment isn't going to work, because they'll still continue shrieking, deriving orgiastic joy from hearing themselves lord it over the rest of us.

You don't have any American friends on this forum.  You don't seem to have any friends at all.  I think that's your problem.  It's probably due to the absurdity of a pasty white retard from Denmark claiming to be a victim of "racism".

Hey Terminal, you better keep hoping India and/or China are the ones to knock us off since EUtopia version 1.0 and USSR version 2.1 never quite managed the trick despite "gentlemen" like you fanboying for it.

America may have many flaws but not allowing "out of regulation bananas" ain't one of them.

Yeah....when I first saw your post I thought I'd give it a day and then make some kind of educated response. I am sooo glad I didn't bother. But I did buy a 30gig iPod last weekend. As a_white_rabbit would say, "s'cool".

Yeah imagine that it is not as though Terminal did anything but raise the bar concerning discourse herein....

Yep, it's a shame us "steakhouse morons" have to interupt the polite discussions about what racists we are from distinguished intellectuals such as Terminex.

Of course anybody could see the hatefull little left wing trolls crawling out from under their rocks just from reading the thread title.

Nah to be fair there probably could be an intelligent conversation or three about why Rome excelled vis a vis other nation-states, and how the US is playing the game at a different level than its competition. You could even make the argument that we are losing touch with what allowed us to exert more punching power per pound than our foes in the past and why it is seemingly a diminsihing capacity. The thing is for any of that you'd need to muzzle the usual suspects from playing the "Bang Chimpy Action Hour" and force them to stay On Topic and apolitical or it is a raging violation of the "no politics" meme.

In the end, however, I don't think the reality is that all political ranting is OT, I suspect political ranting that sets off the 50,000 decibel EUtopian/Mega-Leftoid "I am outraged and ready to boycott MatrixGames!" machine is OT.

IE "an unfair(by necessity) muzzling of only SOME PoVs".

Be fair it's getting to be quite the rallying cry among EUro leftoids. They engage in some sort of school-marmish rant about why the US is the source of all evil, and when the vacancy of their own nation's power is highlighted they cry "racism!" They are too unsophisticated to grasp that unless they are Mongolian behind the little typing to internet interface there is a good chance that genetically they are facing a doppleganger in a US poster.

Kodak moment of the day was a "Frenchwoman" at the City of Heroes forum decrying retaliatory cultural elitism as "racist" to a Cajun.

Who plays Ancient Rome anymore? Modern America rocks!!! I'm using the Rape the Environment mod and even at World Cop level I'm rackin' up kills all over the globe. Who needs "Boys for Pleasure" when you get nukes and unilateral action? Anyhoo, I guess there's a new game out from EU called Soft Power. Anybody try it?

Quid pro quo no?

Well I am open to a discussion how a significant medieval country (chek Louis I (the Great) in Naples or Matthias Corvinus' Black Army) has sunk into a the state as it is today, but I am more interested in why some people think that SOME countries are above ALL criticism?

This one is REALLY bothering me. Countries are led by politicians and we all know them. They are NO saints, so if they make mistakes their country will make some too. The MCS crew is still short of ANY arguments why SOME actions CAN NOT and above all MUST NOT be criticized or discussed. As I stated many times ONLY God is perfect. Nobody on this planet is without faults.

When you people will start to think about how a three letter word -which used to mean freedom and unlimited possibilities- have turned into the red textile, especially for people who are VERY similar to you (not Ahmed, Sergei or Ching Lee but William, Knut and 'Anri)?

I know that you dont care about the rest of the world, but most of you dont understand that your countries influence rests as more on CULTURAL influence (McDonalds, music, movies) as much it relies on military superiority. NO M1A1 will make me eat a Happy Meal, or watch 300 or play WitP for that instance.

All you MCS guys with this behaviour you screw what your forefathers have built: the image of America.
