I too like to use different designs for different roles. I usually keep them in separate fleets so I can manage them via templates, but being able to have multiple designs in the same template would be nice. Hardly critical or game breaking though.

Agreed on all points. It is a pain. It is however less of a pain if you use the Colony > Infrastructure list. Makes no sense for tankers to stay close to the home port? The fleet can then just refeul at the space station. No need for tankers. I do find tanker behavior extremely frustrating whether using manual or automated fleets. I tend to use a number of small automated fleets for defense and raiding, and a handful of large manual fleets for assaulting planets. Or at the very least, if you cant reduce the number of generated planets, keep the upper bound for quality, and reduce the lower bound. On the rarest settings all planets just suck, rather than having a few nice ones.

In general, automated ship designs are updated immediately when a tech is achieved. However if the new design is not viable, it probably wont update. Have unexplored bodies in a LIST, so you can prioritise which to explore. Its how the whole game works. Troop maintenance is fine. I do NOT want it reduced. Cheap garrisons will just lead to more garrison spam and longer bombardments without adding anything. Nuance is a funny way to spell bug. :D :D :D I kinda figured eventually that he probably manually retrofitted a ship (or gave it an individual order) and forgot to set it back to auto. Something that I've never needed to do. You're right. It also shouldn't be a roadblock to subsequent fleet behavior.
