Thank you for posting the AARs

<t> I just want to thank you all for posting your AARs here. It takes quite a bit of time for you to make the screenshots, post, add text etc. And then you open yourself up to critiques and comments etc. I play solo vs the AI, and I find the AARs very helpful to understand, for example, where the mo...

RE: How do you make and execute war plans in WitE2?

<t> I was thinking along the same lines as OP in that having a map layer of basic drawing tools would be great. Having, for example, an axis of advance drawn on the map as you zoom in and out would help me keep the mental picture in place as to what my operational goals are. The vast expanses of USS...

RE: Effect of position of Air Counters

<t> Joel,<br/> Thank you. Turns out it was a fundamental HQ error on my part in that I had indeed left 4PG HQ far to the rear. I had coincidentally moved it forward the same turn I moved the LF map counter forward so I mistook which HQ moved “fixed” the air deployment.<br/> <br/> Also explains why t...

RE: Effect of position of Air Counters

<t> @carlkay58 thanks for confirming. That’s what I thought I understood. But I ran into trouble with RTL myself this evening and maybe someone can suggest what I did wrong. It is VERY much related to the OP question.<br/> <br/> Ok, playing RTL as axis against AI Soviets learning the game. Air set t...

RE: My book arrived damaged

<t> I received my manual today here in Connecticut, about a week and half after ship confirmation. Mine arrived in a box, no bubble wrap, but fairly good fit without much room to move. It arrived in perfect condition, including the corners where I expected some damage, but there was none. Very pleas...

RE: New Public Beta v02.09.04.00

<t> Paul - THAT was key info, so thanks for adding that. That told me that the installer was fine, so I went ahead and ran the beta installer as usual instead of a re-install. Everything updated fine, and I did not need to reinstall KiF. Menu screen updated to 2.9.4, so all is good!<br/> <br/> Thank...

RE: New Public Beta v02.09.04.00

<t> Thank you Dave,<br/> <br/> What is interesting is that the launch menu auto update feature itself thinks I have the latest version. As I was looking at other posts, I see there was at least one full release 2.07 between 2.1 and the current 2.9, so if the auto update was working, I should at leas...

RE: New Public Beta v02.09.04.00

<r> Hi all, <br/> <br/> I am going to jump back into MWiF, so wanted to make sure I was running the latest version. Since the patch referenced in this thread is less than 2 weeks old, and a beta, I assumed it was the absolute most current. I downloaded, and when I ran the installer, it said I had a ...

RE: The World in Flames Map Pack

<t> The last couple of years the Map Pack HAS been included in the Christmas Sale, at 30% off if I recall correctly. That's when I purchased them. Probably the most simultaneously awesome and foolish wargame purchase I have ever made. [:)] <br/> <br/> No intention of ever actually using them, but fo...

RE: Skill check - Tunisia (and a quick Q on airpower)

Thanks for the tips Loki; time to go hit the manual on how to implement your suggestions.

zakblood - same here. I don't have to win to enjoy the game, but I do want to make sure I am using the tools provided correctly, even if I am not yet optimizing them.

Skill check - Tunisia (and a quick Q on airpower)

<t> Hi all, I am still working up my skills, so would like to know whether I'm in the ballpark to move on to more complex scenarios/campaigns. After the Husky tutorial I got a Decisive Victory in the Air tutorial; and then got an Allied Major Victory in Dragoon.<br/> <br/> Just finished Battle for T...

RE: OT: US navy returns to celestial navigation amid fears of computer hack

<t> Grrrrr... read the article, and the nomenclature issues actually make it hard to understand just who is learning what. <br/> <br/> The article says "enlisted recruits" and "new recruits" a few times, but when you finally parse it out, it seems to say that USNA is adding it back to the curriculum...

RE: How many of you have RL military experience?

I have some Cold War experience. Annapolis grad, served as Communications officer and ASW Officer on a Spruance class in the 3rd and 7th fleet in the 80's. My old ship was sunk as a target and is now providing a pleasant home to many reef-dwellers, making me feel old! [:)]

RE: Gary Grigsby’s War in the East is now available on Steam and gets a Twitch Stream!

<t> I just finished watching the Twitch replay, and being brand new to the WitE/WitW system, the replay really helped me understand a few key game concepts, as well as knowing how much of that available detail I don't really need to worry about.<br/> <br/> When do we get a similar treatment for WitW...

RE: downloading the game on a new computer

<t> I just read that WITE will be on Steam later today, and owners will get a free Steam Key, so you could wait for that as well. For Matrix games, Steam is a nice convenience just so you don't have to retain disks or open help desk tickets. That said, Matrix has always been very quickly responsive ...

RE: That ADG game WIF BLITZ might just be real

<t> I too rarely visit the ADG site anymore (because nothing changes), so I am glad of the post here drawing attention to the Compass Games/ADG collaboration.<br/> <br/> Since MWiF is essentially a computer-aided boardgame, I doubt there is anyone on this forum who does not have WiF cardboard in the...

Where is the auto-update option?

<r> Disregard. Odd, but fixed.<br/> <br/> <br/> <br/> <br/> I have many Matrix games, and of course t...

RE: Almost here...banner is up...Holiday Sale!!

<t> I'm in the same place as Ranger33; I have pretty much all I want to own, and am woefully behind playing those! (WitE, MWIF, CMANO, DW:L and a couple of others) My job allows me to buy them, but alas does not provide time to really dedicate the time to them they require. (which is better than the...

RE: War in the West will conquer your bookshelf!

<t> I like the idea of the book. I actually LOVE the MWIF books, and much prefer to use them when looking up a game process. Luckily, most if not all of the updates to MWIF address bugs and program issues - not the basic play of the game itself, which is sort of 'fixed' because of the boardgame rule...
