That was super fun to watch... Cant wait for March 10. I wonder if folks like Quill18 and Party Elite on youtube are gonna get an early copy for streaming

Cool to watch indeed.

A question: is there a game setting to change the nebula occurance/density if you like the game to be more like DWU?

Yes, you can change that in the galaxy setup to make the nebulas more or less prevalent.

Thanks for posting the links, Erik. :)

I'm not a Twitch partner as such (not enough subscribers yet) and so the specific twitch links to video will expire, unfortunately. The YouTube links are permanent though and there is a series being uploaded there.

I stream on Twitch most days and I plan on streaming DW2 content until my preview version expires in a couple of weeks. If you want to know anything about the game feel free to pop by and ask questions.

Not sure if you check here much. If I could provide a request. Many playing the game from beta are likely used to the aesthetics and thus play at I would call the dots and lines visual level. It would be great if you could take some time and zoom in and rotate around the ships doing their work. Showcase smaller ships leaving hanger bays and what that looks like. Probes launching from explorers, etc.

I see that you do that, but as a % of stream time showcasing the graphics at the zoomed in scale is nice vs. the top line dots and lines we are getting across the board.

Hi Das, by the way for your Ackdarian ship designs don't overlook their unique TurboThruster Engine - it's quite good!

The stream is going great and I'm excited about getting my hands on it. One question though. Any thoughts of bringing orbital motion back? I understand your reasoning for leaving it out, however I was wondering as release gets closer if you've sort of revisited the idea in your head? I have to admit that I find the lack of motion to be a bit immersion breaking.

No chance of orbital motion in the initial release. Anything is possible in the future. With the increase in scale though, the orbital motion even if it were in would be much slower relatively speaking than in DW1. I don't think it would add as much as you might think as you'd barely see the planets moving, but it would add a huge amount of additional complexity and bug potential across as host of sub-systems. When we went to 3D we decided we needed to at least initially leave this behind for sanity.

Personally, I do miss it in principle, but the systems and galaxy feel just as alive as before and I don't miss it in actuality while playing. Knowing that it would not add much visually because of the scale change also helped me come to terms with leaving that behind, at least for now.

I think when even higher res planet surfaces come in and we see them rotate on their axis that will help resolve the feeling of the missing orbits.

Hello, i am not sure if it is good place to ask question about Earth and our solar system but i am gonna try, the question is:

It is possible to start a game as human race on planet Earth with all other planets in our solar system and make it unique in galaxy?

Not quite sure what you mean.

All planets are procedurally rendered, meaning there is no resolution limit.
Downside is that modding custom planets in is harder.

In the default story, you don't start there, but it's possible that system may exist. :-)

You can however also use the in-game editor to customize your home system to be the way you like it.

I really liked at the start how the game zooms in at the start. Be cool if the zooming was a little slower and there was cool music to go with it.

Maybe it was just the stream then it seemed muddy.

I agree the zoom is too fast for how cool it looks.
