Still Learning but eager to play now

Post by goulash »

OK after last patch I have finally attempting to play this game and only just starting to grasp the novice ground rules.

I plan to play a few games to get used to ground unit play with air support and then I will move onto naval warfare scenario.

Once I learn how to play air land and naval, is it fair to say that I will be able to play a solitaire game in the global war scenario or should I just keep practicing in the smaller scenarios until the game is more developed?

I guess I can try standard rule set and then advanced which will keep me occupied and getting familiar with all the optional rules but I am twitching to play global was game as novice at least once but don't want to hit a game stopper as it will just put me off the game.

p.s. How long (approx hrs playtime). does a global war game take to complete on the pc version?

Once you know the land, sea and air rules and mechanics then certainly you can and should move on to Global War. There are not that many issues with the game stability in solitaire mode and the program makes numerous auto-saves so it easy to back-up.

To play Global War all the way through is probably about a 200 hour investment.

Well, not really a 200-hr investment. My buddy and I used to play a Global War game every year in an 8-day stretch, 10-12 hrs per day. We did that for about ten years in a row at a cabin in Eastern Oregon. Great fun. So maybe 100 hrs. :-)

After much thought on this post I decided reluctantly not to comment on this[:(]

It's pretty obvious it's a typo and gravyhair meant 1000 hrs. At least I hope he did [:D]
