Japanese Planes St. Charles County MO

Post by Battleline »

Was covering an American Legion game when I shot this very intesting photo of five Japanese planes flying over St. Charles County Missouri Sunday.
Thought you might enjoy.

I wonder if they are some of the replicas made for the movie, "Tora Tora Tora"? IIRC, they converted several AT-6 trainers into fairly realistic looking Zeros, Vals and Kates.

oops was slightly wrong the planes of fame one in chino flys with an orgional engine but is actualy a reconstruction and not an origional airframe.

check that again i trusted wiki which is always a mistake the chino one is origional with origional engine.

I would guess that is the Tora, Tora, Tora group. I haven't been able to find out where they were going and where they were going. I do know they flew over my hometown, Washington, MO, because our photo editor got a shot of them flying over her parents' house.
Thanks!

The really odd thing was that I was wearing one of my USS Arizona shirts earlier in the day.

Are you sure your mayor is on good terms with the Japanese ? May want to talk to him.

That's neat, but I'd be more impressed if they were fighting Godzilla.

Actually St. Charles Mo, is on the Missouri River and only boats stationed there are casinos! So it may have been american greed they were after.

I live in St. Louis but was down in Florida so unfortunatly missed the site!

I wouldn't call those casinos 'boats!'
