Vassal WIF load error

Post by dennisbluff »

Hi.

Hope im not spamming the wrong thread.

I recently downloaded VASSAL, as well as the WIF module for VASSAL.
Both downloads are most recent downloads available. But when i try to "play game".
I get an error saying info not in specified dir.

Does anybody have suggestions?

Make sure "use subdirectories" is checked when you unzip the file? Note sure of the exact verbiage, but it has the option to use paths, or use folders, or something very close to those.

Hmm.. can´t seem to make it work.

I´m using VASSAL 2.9.8 (newest version available)
I´m using WiF MOD 2.10 from www.theletterj.net

In addition to the directory error from "Play Game". It prompts, when i try to Edit module: "not a VASSAL module".
The answer it seems, would be that i don´t have the VASSAL mod. But as stated above it should be.

What directory should i install the WIF mod in? Should it make any difference? As the VASSAL browser seems perfectly able to open the relevant directory.

The Module file is a zip file, but you do not actually unzip the file yourself. Vassal does that when you play the game.

A module is a single file called "xxx.mod".
If you rename it to "xxx.zip" you would be able to unzip it (dont do that), just point Vassal at the xxx.mod file.

I have stumbled upon mod files that were called "xxx.mod.zip" that you did not have to unpack, but just rename to xxx.mod then they worked.

Hope it helps.

Just a thought...did you load the game directly onto your c: drive or hard drive? Some people have loaded it into their 'my documents' in which case it will not open. Not big enough.

It also won't work if you don't have enough RAM. I don't know exactly what the specs required are, but I can't load the game on my older computer, but it works just fine on the computer I bought two years ago.
