Ok,

Let me see if I understand how to sort of do this efficiently. There are a number of R&D factories that are researching Rufe and other models of the Zero. It would be best for me to upsize these R&D factories to 30 and let them repair (particularly because the models are going to be available long before the SAM and thus will repair faster). Once they reach 30/30 I switch them up the research line to the Sam. They will upgrade without damage this way. This gives me at least 9 x 30 researching SAM. Then I should go through the list and do the same thing for the other late game fighters.

Mike, I found the wireline PDF file for Scen 2 on my computer. Will attach it. Only those planes that are in the direct upgrade chart actually will upgrade without damage. So No, the Sam will not get upgraded from the zero path.

You got the wireline of upgrades now and you can see that A6M does NOT go to A7M ... entirely NEW path. So those A6M factories, they become something ELSE once you get Sam and/or George. Maybe J7W?

Ditto the Oscar factories. Maybe you let them go all the way to Oscar IV, but truthfully the Ki-83 is a monster in the late war or the Ki-94.

Your Val/Kate/Babs factories will also change, but EVERYTHING else will pretty much stay. Mavis is good for the entire war. Emily, the war. Jake, the war, Thalia the war, etc. And Val/KAte may stay and just become Kami's ... anyway, work out a plan for each factory. As few changes as possible in the plan. Then, get the engines to match your aircraft. Again, you don't want to change them ever. Set what you need. When you have big enough pools, just turn them off.

Building factories is huge supply sink: 1000 supply for each repaired factory. 3x30 is 90,000 supply. 270 factories, 270,000 supply. You want to build them once and only once if you can. There will be exceptions, just make sure they are exceptions, not the rule.

Good Luck!!!!

December 8th rebuttal was pretty timid.

Took one 250# sap bomb hit on one ship in the invasion convoy at Singora. Managed to get the troops unloaded although on the 9th it is still on fire a bit.

Also took a bomb hit to CL Mauritius us from an attack out of Hong Kong.

The Japanese managed to take out an AK with a torpedo and kill another AKL near Manila and the best part was that I managed to bomb 6 submarines and better yet kill one of the AS ships out of manila.

If you give the Betties and Nells torpedoes as the weapon of choice and an altitude of 1K, they will use the full bomb load at that height.

Also, being torpedo bombers, they can fully operate from level 2 airfields . . .

Dec 9, 1941

A fairly good day for the Japanese.

I managed to catch a bunch of his fast moving AK's and AP's with the Japanese navy.

Tarawa and Ocean Island are taken, Aparri and Laoag are taken and Vigan will fall without contest on the 10th.

Got troops already invading Davao and also Brunei. Trying to move really fast and hope it does not blow up in my face.

Spotted the allied heavy cruiser at Jolo, moving a small carrier force to try to intercept. Debating whether to evacuate invasion ships from Davao as he is in range. He knows about the small carrier force and it is near that location. Wonder if he is willing to Kamakazi the ship for a shot at an amphibious convoy...

Early on, you want to move LB fighter groups to bases to provide CAP ASAP. A6M is your first choice, but even Nates are better than nothing.

The CL Sendai catches the Boise and Houston north of Balabac and engages in a lively shootout. So much fun they go at it again. On the 2nd conflict the Japanese command orders disengagement. That would have been fine but the commander of the Sendai decided to knock heads with the superior task force two more times. The magazines have been flooded and it is likely the Sendai will be lost. Using up all of the ammunition in the allied ambush force may have been worth it though, too many TF's sailing around that would not want to meet them.

Ran into an interesting amphibious force north of Kuching. The force was sunk and over 2500 allied troops were lost. Not sure if it was part of an evacuation or part of a reinforcement. Time will tell.

It is not completely one sided, one of the TF's northeast of Singkawang took a torpedo. I havent looked closely but naval guard units got rescued by adjacent ships.

The Sendai has me feeling bi-polar. When the first battle started I was wondering how bad the gunnery crews were for the amount of misses. I knew that getting through the armor would be difficult but I wanted more hits. At the end of the 4th battle I had written the cruiser off.. Well look where we are... If they manage to put the last bit of fire out then maybe the ship lives. Now I am leaning towards giving the commander a medal but he should probably be court martialed for disobeying orders....

If the magazines were flooded, then that is a very luck Japanese ship!

Now that the enemy ships are low on ammo, you should make a bunch of 2 ship DD TFs and mug them!

If a unit is ever "lost" due to the ships carrying that unit were sunk yet some other ships rescued survivors, the survivors will be put ashore and the next port where the unit will reform unless the unit was bought back. That said, don't depend upon that so don't put a unit on only one ship.

As a point of note, the PBs can be in a Fast Transport TF. Five Ansyu-C PBs can carry a tank regiment with just a few supplies. The PBs can be loaded with supplies and then added as convoy escorts but only if they are not carrying troops. They can also be in a minesweeping TF but only if there is a minesweeper actually in the same hex, not that the minesweeper needs to be in the minesweeping TF. Those Ansyu-C PBs won't sweep very many mines but they can usually clear one mine with their hull without sinking where they will usually form an escort TF and disband. The minesweepers that clear a mine with their hull usually sink and don't resurface . . .
