you might have to generate the map cache in MapMaker.

Gen. Freyberg: "Well, if you wave at them they'll usually wave back."

Not having a map cache will not cause an error, only slow scrolling.

We need a bit more information as to what error and when?

Now that is odd. Surely it can't have been the map cache.

Do you recall the error message you got originally?

If you look inside the Map folder within the COTA game folder, you will see two types of files. One has the .aam suffix and is the actual map data file. The second one has a .cache suffix and is the cache file - ie a picture file produced from the map data. If there is a cache file, the game will use this rather than generating the picture on the fly during play. This speeds up map scrolling.

To generate a cache file, see page 52 of your MapMaker manual.

I've only recently obtained COTA, after reading all the positive comments in the forums.
Have experienced exactly the same situation whereby creating a cache file for sealion solved game closure problem.
I must say I like COTA and will definitely get BFTB when released.
