Capital ship busting, revisited...

Post by Diabolico »

In fact, the best way to get a capital ship and not being detected is to approach very far and from exactly below. Then it is only a question of positioning oneself and target the "weak spot" of the shield and ... may the massacre brgin!!!
... even if you get blown up from collateral damage it's more than worth it, since a capital ship costs a lot more than a single fighter. [8D]

As has been mentioned repeated, capships respond poorly to fighter guns assualts. Most destroyer or larger ships will happily let you pick them apart by chewing down their armor over the course of 5-10 minutes.

<Slight Spoiler>
Zolon capship are notorious for having no point defense and sitting happily still while you chew them apart with the clock set to x4 speed.
</Slight Spoiler>

The only real solutions would be to increase capship point defense capablities or to limit the number of rounds a fighter can carry.

[:D] ... yeah! It is right. They don't even try to move to try and squash me... more point defense seems to me the better solution, providing the caps can track below, wich doesn't seem the case...

Even then, you are stuck with the hangar bay attacks and point blank assualts. Capships need to take evasive action of some kind when they are getting picked apart.
