19400816 : We have rushed to the border, but a coup, a military coup, occured, and the government was forced to listen to the generals who demanded that no Eastern Campaign be contemplated till we were stable in the West. The Soviets did not react to our troop build up, and have not denounced the Pact, so we have backed away from this abyss.

This is the situation before the German turn.

And what will you do when the Royal Navy sinks the transports carrying the German armor to NA? Bye Bye Barbarossa.

Perhaps I was thinking of a 'feet dry" route?  I guess there is a significant RN presence there, but the AI has not told me just what is in the Med.  Gibraltar has fallen so they are going to stay there anyway.  Not that my Italians are looking for any ubermensch to join them.  Don't much like the Germans, those Italians.

Some notes on this campaign : This is one of the strongest Axis forces to attempt an attack on the USSR that I have ever seen. It will be a huge test for Gary's mod, really an unfair one. The German production level, 212 PP per turn, is massive.

The American are a long way off and we will be ready for them too. This is going to be a bloody Barbarossa.

19410524 : Turkey has fallen, and Cairo and Alex are both under siege. The Axis is ready for Barbarossa in one month. This will be a true challenge for the Soviets.

19410624 : Barbarossa, we make expected progress in the Soviet Union. Alex and Cairo still hold out, although weakened. The Axis minor powers on the eastern front all move forward to secure the rear areas.

19410801 : We drive onwards. We do not want to overextend ourselves as the Summer campaigning season wears on. We have destroyed over 85 SP at a cost of about 25.

You're probably going to have much the same experience with the mod - a bit better AI, more USSR forces on the ground. However, you will also come up against the USSR AI's use of large numbers of PPs for air units and armor. Some of the latter is ok, I guess, but building air units, in this game, for the AI is suicidal.

I suggest, when you get to that point where the USSR is going to get the 500 PP Siberian infusion, that you hit F1, make the USSR player controlled, and do the purchases with those new PPs yourself, then revert back to AI control.

Too bad the AI is crippled by the algorithms used in purchases. The developers really need to make all purchases configurable.

I agree, things are better but not where they need to be.  The Bryansk - Kaluga captures by a 1-8 motorized division are horrifying.  This should not be difficult to build in as a "rule" for the AI.  Even a 1-4 infantry division would have prevented this.

I will allocate the Siberian reinforcements buy myself and we will see how the AI handles the rest of the game.
