East German organisations

Post by Kiwi Red One »

Being more of a table top gamer I only visit Matrix Games forums occasionally but saw some discussion in this tread about NVA organisations: tm.asp?m=3549853

Don't know if you have seen this very detailed OOB for all the East German armed forces circa 1988:

http://www.relikte.com/literatur.htm - about 1/2 way down the page.

Also some very detailed OOB for US Army and West German forces by Dragoner circa 1989 that may be of interest (all in German).

Thanks to Sabre 21 (and Pat Callaghan) for the NATO 1989 stuff - used it alot over the years and to all at OTG for Flashpoint Germany - I have the original version still :)

Anyway hope the above is of interest.

Cheers

Thanks, KRO, the information on the NVA will come in handy when building the EG database, which I'm about 20% done.

An updated version (version 3) of the NVA 88 Order of Battle has been posted in the last couple of days.

http://www.relikte.com/literatur.htm - about 1/2 way down the page.

In German but fantastic detail about how different NVA units were compared to GSFG ones.

Should be of use to some here (Stimpack?)

Cheers

Producing? they're produced! [:D] I just need to make some refinements before they're officially released alongside the East German Campaign (Itself a WiP).
The OOB you provided here is much more reliable and the Fire and Fury data sets I had been using.

OK "have produced" then [8D]

Glad the OOB stuff is useful - not based on "best guess" western intelligence estimates from the 80's but (appears) to use actual German primary sources - my German is not good.

I'll keep a look out for your East German campaign and maps in due course....be interesting to see if they can make it to the Rhine in a week!!
