First Congo war- remade

Post by lion_of_judah »

Here are a few screenshots of the First Congo war that I have remade from the ground up. A new map, new troop, historical and officer libraries. The only AI capable regime is AFDL-(DRC)

Looks very nice indeed. :)

I dislike the way the Bio is made, but that is a matter of taste. I like it when they don't contain what happened during the game, or after it. It makes it more realistic I think, keeps the illusion of you being in charge of what happens next.

I've run into a problem in getting the AFDL AI to work. I have been able to get the Zaire AI to work and it does alright in putting up a defensive withdraw. Zaire never launched counter attacks until I was almost at the door step of the Capital, then the AI launched a couple of counter attacks with air strikes.

I just finished a play test and won a decisive victory against the AI. After the first initial successes, my forces ground to a halt due to lack of oil, and had to wait until I had enough PP to request more. The AFDL player in this playtest, was never able to get above 9,000 oil, which by the way is on purpose. The Rwandan and Angolan allies advanced to the river and a few hexes beyond, but this was on purpose. The AI appeared to have a lot of troops facing Rwanda, and for the most part my forces faced mainly militia regiments, with a handful of Zairian regulars. I have a couple of more things to correct, and this will be ready for publication.

One more thing, I was able to win a decisive victory without taking the capital, as Zaire had substantial forces there defending it. If the AI had of been a bit more aggressive, they would have been able to throw me back and maybe even break through and rollup my northern front.

First Congo war version 1.18 has now been uploaded. Zaire so far is the only regime that works with the AI.

AFDL-( Democratic Republic of the Congo)
Rwanda- Allied with the AFDL
Uganda- Allied with the AFDL
Angola- Allied with the AFDL
Eritrea-Allied with the AFDL

Zaire and her allies

Zaire
Former Hutu Rwandan Government and Militia forces
