Pink n Green

Post by RJake1 »

Just installed CC LongDay. Introductory video runs fine. Game manual looks good. But the game itself is pink/green.
It is unplayable. Are there settings I need to adjust? I've tried a variety of resolution settings but nothing changes.
Using a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 with Windows 8.1. I don't see any options on the laptop for changing colors.
Very disappointed if I cant play this game. Thanks!

try adjusting the display settings, or run the game in "windowed" mode.

I have the same problem, windowed mode does work but i also had to use the Windows Compatibility feature as well, I set it to run in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) mode and i also run it as Administrator just to be safe, It's kinda annoying because windowed mode is small, It strains my eyes and makes it hard to see things.

Unfortunately Windows 8 has issues with the older 16-bit color mode used by Close Combat prior to Panthers in the Fog. Windowed mode is currently the only way to deal with this issue that I am aware of.

Note that you can set the size of the window by adjusting the resolution in the game options. You can even make it the size of your full screen.

I tried setting the resolution to a higher setting which did make the overall window bigger however the actual game area is still at 800 x 600

Correct -- the game UI is limited to 800 x 600 in older versions. It doesn't scale with the window size. The battle screen will use all the available space in the window, however.

How does enter into 'windowed mode'? I have the same pink/green issue described above. I have Windows 10 on a Dell laptop. Thanks.

To Tom_D:
Launch the game from the "Quick Start" menu. 1. Select Options button from main screen (it can be done, even in the pink/green screen); 2. Select the General tab; 3. Check the box labeled "Window Mode" underneath the screen resolution; 4. Adjust the game display settings to your max display settings; 5. Exit (note: you may have to use Task Manager and "End Task") then re-launch the game from the Game Menu. At the Game Menu, select "Check For Update". This will install the latest version of the game.
Please note: It is possible the steps listed can be avoided just by installing the latest update from the Game Menu, but I'm not certain.

You can also hit F8 to bring up the options dialog, which is likely easier than trying to click on the button.

Thanks Steve. I tend to forget that option, but it is the simplest way to get to the options dialog box.
