Strange victory points

Post by Schlonz »

After playing some scenarios, I've noticed very high VP numbers in the victory dialog,
much higher than the grand total of all objectives.

I was just going to comment on this same topic. I played "Battle of Thamad" as Israel and thought I did OK but turns out I lost by over 1000 points. I checked and it seems that the objectives accumulate points every turn so basically by the time I even reached the first objectives mid-game it was already a lost cause. And to top it off I was barely able to exit any forces, but it wouldn't have changed things I don't think. I've noticed this in Vietnam too, thinking I did OK and losing by over 1000 points or thereabouts.

I've been noticing the same. Usually this would be attributed to Event Points, but Middle East doesn't have any scripting yet.

Stay tuned.

In reporting this, please follow the procedures suggested here:

At least in the Thamad case, FWIW, I cannot replicate the problem on my end.

I cannot replicate the problem, because Jason had made some changes in the BETA CSME 2.31 PATCH that I had failed to install.

No need for you to post the suggested full bug report.

Jason will handle the follow-up.

Thanks, I definitely should have mentioned that I'm using the BETA CSME 2.31 PATCH.

I'm just looking over some platoon oob files to adjust some numbers.

I have the scenarios corrected.

Once the platoon oob files are corrected, I'll be posting an updated 2.31 BETA PATCH

Is it possible some of these scenarios now include variable objectives?

For example:

The Objective's Dialogue in the Batle of El Argoup scenario editors shows the Egyptian victory objectives as 50/50 and 100/100.

Yes, I didn't realize that when set them like that that they were cumulative. I assumed for them to be cumulative, they had to have the turns associated to them. As in 1-30[100/100], as that would make sense.

Again, I have fixed (well, reverted) them all and will relink the dropbox in the next day or two.

So I am not really sure what the problem is now, and after I've watched a very recent video on the new update by "The Mack", I am even more confused.

Are Victory Points scrambled in all scenarios?
Does this affect both 2.3 AND 2.31?
Shall I hold back playing it until the patch in Fall?

This will only affect the BETA 2.31 PATCH.

I will REPLACE the 2.31 PATCH in the coming days and you will be back to normal once I do, just make sure you have the latest version.

2.30 UPDATE is fine.

Hey Jason, thanks for the fast response. I've just played the first Sirte 1985 scenario since I've never finished it before. I couldn't help but notice that the scenario even had scripting now! I sure didn't expect that, and so I got stomped by the AI once AGAIN. But at least this time around I could enjoy the new UI ;)

Thanks for this game and keep up the good work!

You're most welcome!

Glad you enjoyed the scenario! I believe all the Sirte scenarios are scripted.

The rest aren't, yet.
