Post by ultradave »

A few screen captures. First is me as Allies. Final positions and VP. Then me as Axis, final positions and VPs

VPs 423 Aircraft losses. Compare that to his as Allies later. That will teach me to be aggressive with them.

My Axis game final positions. Tried an aggressive gamble to go for Tbessa but it backfired on me with tough consequences.

They did well for me on missions, but ground support and intercept they got their butts kicked.
Spurred me to do some reading and seems like the USAAF pretty much got handed their butt with respect to losses vis a vis the Germans.

Do you normally play without the hex ownership shading?

Yes. I usually just turn it on or off when I want to check something.

i am curious - when you were allies, did you not see my capture Siliana on the final turn? (see top screenshot) you still would have had your turn yet to play, and I figured you would bump my weak Italian infantry out of there, but I also figured the net losses I would incur woulda been lower then the turn VP gain of 10 pts.

the first turn you had as axis was the killer. after playing both matches, I came to the conclusion that axis must take Sdid Bouzid, Gafsa, and probably even Kasserine on turn 1 if it wants to win outright, otherwise it has to have some luck go its way to eek out a minor win or draw (or somehow sneak a unit into one of the big gain VPs like Le Kef or Tbessa at the end - very risky)

Yeah, my mistake. Didn't look up top. Nothing happens there :-)
