Hey at least you know he still cares. In my opinion he doesn't display very Canadian behavior... We are a polite and helpful bunch. [:D] I'm sure he comes from elsewhere.

Time to sink the "HMCS Herman" [:D]

The best thing to do--which I admit I sometimes fail to do myself--is to ignore him.

If you look at what he has said about Command (his review, etc.), it sounds like he's desperate to see it fail. Why? Because Command makes him and his Players Database irrelevant.

The best way to sink this guy? Say nothing to him and as little about him as possible. He's not worth your time.

Personally, my plan is to enjoy Command, to write lots of quality scenarios for it, and to do what I can to help others enjoy it and write good scenarios, too. When it comes down to it, the game is already good, and it's getting better with each new release...the thing we in the community can do to help is to let other people know about the game and serve as a resource when they have questions and also to make sure there are always new scenarios for people to enjoy. And if I get a little pleasure while I do all this watching Herman's pathetic attempts to attack Command as he sees people enjoying it instead of his Players Database, that probably means I am not as good a person as I should be. But I don't care. :)

I very much liked Harpoon, before the back and forth with this guy began.
I still like harpoon, in situations where this guy is not involved. There are a lot of people who will say "but he did so much for the game" and, I give SOME credit for that, he did devote a lot of time, etc. The devs of this game however, were working (for free) putting a great deal of effort in to making H2, first, then, H3.. a playable game. In the early years H2 *Sucked*. it was a great idea, playing off of a great game (Harpoon Classic) but had a lot of growing pains which things like db2000 made better. The fact that Herman just stepped in, stole most of its ideas, then changed the name to PDB, did not go over well with me, or with a lot of other people. A great game (by then, H3 was really cool, thanks to db2k) lost a LOT of steam with that, I stayed away, a lot of friends did as well.
I hope we do not let "he who shall not be named" mess up an entire new game.

Harpoon was a good game, the horse and buggy was a good way to get around too, but than cars came out. Go easy on him, his name is Herman and plays harpoon he must be a big Moby-dick fan. Now it seems they call the book Moby-dick the Whale, every one is so politically correct now.

I understand the history and all, but why does it matter if these new builds are 'beta' for 1.02 or not? Where is the 'got ya' in that statement? This is 2013 not 1993. Software is a living entity, every program is in a perpetual state of 'beta' until the development team closes up shop on it. Who cares Herman?

This would be a valid point if you were dealing with someone who was being honest and/or reasonable. I think Herman is fully aware of these facts. I just don't think he cares. I don't think he acts in good faith when he talks about Command because I think he really only cares about protecting his little Players Database empire and his position as its Fearless Leader.

Here is a bit of light reading for anyone who needs a primer on this guy...

The only reason I am spending this much time talking about him, by the way, is to save people the trouble of trying to argue with him. I truly believe any attempt to engage with him is a waste of time.

Now, back to writing more Command scenarios! :)

Has he mentioned command since all the updates and how its surpassed harpoon and is easier to understand for new fans who have never played games like this before.

We have a winner!

I for one am glad this for this thread....as anyone can see what his agenda is..

To Herman, whom I am sure has way too much time on his hands...I have one question..

Really?
But By Grace Go I.......

Now there's a fellow I have not thought about in years. Wasn't he Canadian, also? Must be something in the water.

Hi guys,

Lets focus on the good stuff. The bad stuff gives trolls the oxygen they need to survive

We have an great opportunity to take this thing a long way because we all care a lot about the game we're building and know we're all (devs and community) on the same team and continuing to grow a great game. It pumps us up more knowing you guys are actually having fun with this stuff and able to do the things you want with it.
