Post by Meroka37 »

Argentina vs. Chile

Date/Time: 22th December, 1978 / 21:00:00 Local Time

Location: Beagle Channel

Playable Sides: Argentina, Chile

Operación Soberanía (Operation Sovereignty) was a militar operation planned by Argentina, the plan included a military invasion of Chile started on 22 December 1978 due to the Beagle conflict dispute.

The invasion was halted after mediation of Pope John Paul II.

The scenario depicts de initial plans to invade the islands around Cape Horn, and the action taken by the Chilean Navy to impede it.

Any feedback will be welcome. (The scenario uses the CWDB).

Nice one, i played it from Chile, but way too easy.
The equipment available in the scenario is interesting though.

The Argentines never used Radar and their aircraft were easyly ambushed.
Their Ships also never fired on my incoming aircraft, they either saw them too late due to lack of radar/early warning or they didnt consider them as hostile, Side Doctrine & RoE - Engage non hostile targets YES might remedy that if so.

They never mounted an attack on my ships, the Carrier launched it´s aircraft but they just circled.
They never found me even though one of my fleets had its radar on.

Argentine ships need longer courses, Some just stopped when they reached the last waypoint, or they ran into the coast and fiddled around at 1 knot. And maybe zig-zag courses to be less predictable for the subs.
Windows 7 64; Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.7GHz; 6144MB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970;

Thanks for your feed back, before include it in the Community Package I'll do a complete revamp.

Just came across this one, as I was searching for infos about the Beagle Channel Conflict.
Nice scenario, I played it as Argentina.
It finished in an old surface style combat, with the CLs slugging at each other, in the end Belgrano succumbed but the chileans, already softened up by air strikes, were wiped out by the args escorts.
The chileans minor surface vessel were already been dispatched by exocet and gunfire.
Traded one Arg DD for both chilean subs.
In the air the Daggers were easily downed by the Tigers.

Will give a try as Chile.

Thank You
