Re: Updated 30/07/2022: Bottlenecks in the Pacific v1.3b

Thank you similar. I have changed the numbers after some reading. In short, the Army Air Corps (and Navy and Marines as well) started training many more pilots well before Dec 7 41, the Japanese didn't (they did in fact, but the efforts really dwarfed compared to the Allies). The numbers itself are ...

ABSD means "Advance Base Sectional Dock" - a type of floating dry dock composed of multiple individual sections (pontoons) attached together in various numbers, depending on the lift capacity needed and hull length to be lifted. It was possible to detach a damaged section and put it into t...

Re: A Good Place to Start - Matthew (A) v Fokko (J) - Bottlenecks Mod

I’d like to bomb the oil at Palembang, but I can’t - there’s a glitch in the database settings which means certain locations can’t be city-bombed, and unfortunately Palembang is one of them. We’ve corrected what we believed to be the fault on the database, but it hasn’t fixed the problem. I’m ‘role...

Re: A Good Place to Start - Matthew (A) v Fokko (J) - Bottlenecks Mod

In this mod there are no bridges crossing the main section of the Yangtze - because the first bridge across the lower Yangtze (i.e. from above Chungking to the sea) was built only in 1955-57. So there are no railroads or roads over the river - just trails representing ferries. Furthermore, large sec...

Re: "Earth loses gravity. Details at 11:00"

Seattle has an engineer unit and an infantry unit that were begging me to lift them out to Adak and I couldn't say no. So the 1/153rd Inf Bn and the Bremerton USN Base Force are headed to Adak where as you can see I have turned on the stockpiling of supply to get ready for the future inhabitants. I...

Escort the merchantmen with warships (those with good AA values) embedded in the cargo TF and provide LRCAP air cover from CVs patrolling in the approaches 6-8 hexes from the destination.

Norfolk Is. = data error in the editor, according to the screenshot it is a 'Primary Airbase" instead of a "Port". I have checked my game files and Norfolk is a port in my current mod version and the few older versions I have kept on the drive. Maybe an error in the version you are us...

Re: Buy this game?

Then there is the Bottlenecks mod which slows down the pace of Allied development. Even without these mods you get plenty of micromanagement as Japan. 1. There is an advanced mod called RHS that allows you to switch map art and map data to slowly add Roads and Rails. But I caution you to ...

Re: Witpchk Program Does Not Work

You need to run the tool in the DOS Command Prompt. Push the Window key and the r key at the same time to open the "Execute" panel, then type "cmd" to open the DOS Command Prompt. There you can run the DOS command line witpchkAE.exe /d <location of scenario base> /s <scenario num...

Re: Reasons for stockpiling devices

There is an option in the editor which governs whether squads and devices disappear or get dumped in the pools when a unit withdraws or disbands. I think as a general rule units that withdraw usually take the stuff with them and units that disband drop the stuff into the pools, but there might be ex...

Yes, very useful chart indeed. I have replaced the "credits" screen that shows up when hitting the "m" key with that chart (and some other useful info like port (un)loading rates and rearmament port levels) for quick in-game reference.

Feb 01, 1942. Roxas is occupied, Japanese forces captured Hood Point, Pontianak, Singkawang and Thai forces captured Martaban. Air strikes on Singers and Soerabaya continued to destroy or damage enemy planes on the ground. Over Hankow a Flying Tiger has been downed by prototype Shoki fighters. Rikko...

Re: "An Albatross around my (bottle)neck" - LST vs Jansako (A)

FYI, Jansako and I have decided to end the game in September 1942 due to a combination of factors. On my side mainly the disastrous economic situation due to the late capture of vital bases like Manila, Singapore and esp. Palembang - thanks to the brilliant delaying tactics which my esteemed opponen...

Re: "We want the big ones!" DBB-C vs IdahoNYer (J): Darwin recaptured

FYI, the game has gone on indefinite hiatus over half a year ago with a game date of March 05, 1943. My cherished opponent Ed does not enjoy playing the Japanese side as much as he likes playing the Allies and he feels he has had an overdose of WitP-AE - so we have decided to take a break which may ...

Re: Duds for shells and bombs

Well, in, Germany thousands of WW2 UXO cases are being reported each year - shells, grenades, mines among them but also hundreds of bombs.

Estimates on bomb dud rates run from 5% to 20% depending on the type of bomb and fuse.

Re: Ship crew experience

Crew exp will slowly rise simply by cruising around but only up to a certain "national limit" - I don't have the manual at hand - and afterwards it takes combat of any kind to further increase exp. National limit is only for ground forces, naval exp limit is by ship class. Yeah, memory fo...

Re: Ship crew experience

Crew exp will slowly rise simply by cruising around, any combat will trigger bigger gains (for ex. it suffices that the AA of the ship contributes to the AA fire at attacking planes even if the ship is not being attacked directly to gain exp) - but only up to a certain ship class limit (see Sardauka...
