Re: A delay action

Thank you for the explanations, very helpful. Do you have more such tricks/discoveries that you could share/AAR? I am new to WEGO and tactical level games and the engine and am currently trying to understand the finer aspects and workarounds of the game. One problem I have: I want to attack an enem...

Re: How can I set up "Shoot and retreat to pre-defined spot" orders?

True, but you can't determine the path and end point. So a prepared retreat where the first line fires and then quickly withdraws to the next defence line into pre-designated locations to reload is not really possible. Unfortunately, yes. I hope this feature can be put on Dev team's to do list the ...

Retreat after taking indirect fire (losses)

I often find myself in the situation that I want units to keep their advantageous position if receiving direct fire (losses) but not when being the focus of indirect fire. It would be great to have an option to set up this behaviour.

Re: How can I set up "Shoot and retreat to pre-defined spot" orders?

Thank you for your reply! Note that even direct fire units can be given SOP->Relocate When->After each fire mission(or after all fire missions) to have them scoot after firing. And a mechanic for designating withdrawal points is coming. True, but you can't determine the path and end point. So a prep...

How can I set up "Shoot and retreat to pre-defined spot" orders?

I want to set up my units on a hill combe. They are supposed to quickly shoot their ATGMs at the approaching enemy and then follow a pre-defined path to a pre-defined new location. Is there a way to set up such a mission? From my understanding, you can either set up screen/hold orders and leave the ...

vzlqbi9j3ni31.jpg Hmm. Von Klest? Wasn't he the heersgruppe commander whom we handed over to the Sovs, who convicted him of subversion of the Soviet People through "kindness and humanitarianism" (their words, not mine), and he died in the gulag? (At least his son got out.) Any relation? N...

Hey guys, long time fan of WITE 1 and 2. My friend on these forums, Old Crow Balthazar recommended I share my new series here on Barbarossa for all the eastern front fans to enjoy. Here is the link to it on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHNaaL27w1E&t=5s Let me know what you guys think! Che...

Re: Wargame UIs deserve more attention!

I bet if you were to name what you consider to be a "perfect" UI, then you'd quickly find others to argue with you. ;) Could be. Will I also find people that consider Ctrl-K an ergonomic shortcut? For my post intends to warn about circuitous shortcuts and matryoshka menus more than to def...

Wargame UIs deserve more attention!

Game workflow and UI are among the most important aspects of a game. However, wargame designers often neglect this part. Please consider: There is a hierarchy of how often during the typical gameplay 1) Certain information must be accessed. 2) Certain interactions with the game must be performed. Th...

Re: UI Feedback

Hi, thank you for the reply and thanks for considering 2). I think it is useful to estimate a hierarchy how often a) certain information is needed and b) how often a certain action by the user is needed in typical game flow and then adjust menus, shortkeys etc. accordingly. The most common actions i...

Yes, the player doesn't get the announcement the AI gets either. Would be a fun feature if the ship type "Dreadnought" ingame is named after the first Dreadnought class ship launched.

Re: ATGM more effective than tank gun

Came here to ask the same question. I am still on the latest release update 2.1.3 and don't have too much game experience yet, but MBTs seem to do worse against AFVs than ATGM units of roughly equal vehicle number, although they are a bit more useful for sustained combat due to larger ammunition sto...

UI Feedback

Hi, to me, efficient game workflow and useful shortcuts are among the most important attributes of a game. I have noted the following issues: 1) Setting unit movement path and movement type (deliberate, assault, hasty etc.) seems the most common ingame activity, yet requires a right-click and then m...

Re: Defending Greater Germania 1942 - Includes combined WitW and WitE2 AARs

Even if the first assaults fail, you will drop the fort levels and damage the Soviets. They are encircled with dwindling supplies, you can move your units out of contact for recovery without attrition. With the troops you have there, it should be over in at most 8 turns of all-out attack. Make sure ...

A Beethoven AAR. If the game goes over the distance, the finished AAR will probably rival the bible in the amount of text! Looking forward to it and will follow!

Re: Defending Greater Germania 1942 - Includes combined WitW and WitE2 AARs

Maybe you are saving trucks or the turn isn't finished yet, but I think you can be far more aggressive on the Eastern Front. E.g. hit the artillery division in front of Moscow or encircle the tank corps against the Caspian Sea with your units. Continuous frontlines are not necessary in many places, ...
