Grom, Blyskawica - correct...

But those on the right are British.... Intrepid & Impulsive.

Picture was taken in 1936 or 1937 at White Cowes shipyard.

And their main armament consisted of seven 4.7 inchers. In spite of the british design they were quite pretty single-stacked ships. [;)]

Poland would have been much better off buying all its warship imports from the British.

But Poland had taken credits from France... In return we had to buy ships from France. Simple. It is why destroyers Burza (storm) and Wicher (a name for strong wind), and submarines Wilk (wolf), Rys (lynx) & Zbik were built in French shipyards.

Come on, destroyers were the heaviest polish vessels in 1939. They would have had to buy the entire Home Fleet or 100 U-boats to be better off. [:D]
Nevertheless the small Polish navy fought bravely against the Kriegsmarine.

There's a very good book depicting the French and British export efforts, BRITAIN, FRANCE AND THE NAVAL ARMS TRADE IN THE BALTIC 1919-1939 by Donald Stoker. The author has kind of a snooty attitude toward the exporters, but the book is otherwise good.
