I'm back and here is our October update!

Empires in Arms is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. Empires in Arms is a seven player game of grand strategy set during the Napoleonic period of 1805-1815. The unit scale is corps level with full diplomatic options

I thought "WTF is GA?" and concluded that it must be Grandee Armee, ie. the French player in EIA [:D][:D][:D]

Guys you have to keep in mind there are many of us who never played boardgame version of EIA, nor perhaps any Napoleonic game at all. I hope you want to make this game approachable for us as well [:D] It could do good for sales figures. So make an effort to explain thigs to newbies too. I don't have to mention that a PBEM AAR would go a long way in making things clear to everybody [:D]

Anyway, what's this GA thingie now? How is it going to be implemented in PBEM games? What are the duties of GA in a PBEM? Can other player take GA duties mid-game? Is there life on Mars? I'm confused.

How about the ability to enter an existing game? Or changing players mid-game?

Hey guys:

Sorry for the assumptions!

GA = Game Administrator AKA Dungeon Master.

The host in some games (This is optional) can have the option to replace a player, change a player to a computer, have the computer play one turn for a player, generate sync files to bring all up to date, etc. Most PBEM games that I have been in have one guy that takes care of that stuff and is usually vital to continuing a game. I liked this function in our manual PBEM games so much that I decided to add this as an option for our PBEM games.

Hope this helps...

Crenfrow:

What rules posts were you speaking of???

Thank you
Thank you

About letting us to download the rules if you are done with them, from your last post seems that there are not going to be any more changes in the game rules, just bugs stuff and map design....[:D]

So, if it is not too much asking, of course, we would like to read the rules if it is possible, it will take you away from many questions Marshall.

Thanx!

Marshall, I think crenfrow's talking about the FOW : will the army/eco sheets be public or not ?
They're public in the original boardgame, but IMHO it's waaaaaaaaayyyyyy more interesting when it's hidden, so will we have the option to play with hidden sheets ?

Hey guys:

Our manual guys are not ready for prime time yet! We'll get you guys some rules as soon as we can!

The economic status display is a public screen (no option to make private) and I'm not sure what you're refering to with the army sheets??? Corps strengths are obviously private as well as builds. Naval unit strengths and ship building info are public.

Does this answer your question?

Thank you
Thank you

YESS!!!
[&o]

Thank you Marshall, this post is like Bee Gees´ song, Staying Alive [:D]

So, public will be all major power incomes (taxes and trade), but what about loans from other countries and money remaining to use??

Those are the important ones, since incomes from taxes $/MP and trade can be calculated from the board game, is logic that are public.

I think is great, public ships (counters and building) but private armies and building

Thanks again!

P.S. If you want me to translate the rules to spanish I will gladdddly to do it [;)]

it does !
army sheets = corps strenghts
eco sheets = builds, loans & remaining $
it was public in the original rules of the boardgame, but it's a good thing to hide it !

and I can translate the rules in french too [:D]

We had this discussion on another thread, but the way I read the rules and the way everyone I ever met who played EiA read the rules is that Corps Strengths and Eco Phases were private, not public, but it seems, given the other thread, that this is up for debate. Personally, I have never played that they were public.

Ardilla:

The computer will not know the player is out of the game BUT the host GA would and could execute a turn and send them out to the players. I have not and do not plan to allow the computer to decide when to step in. I think this is best done by the GA because of the fact that all PBEM games that I have been in HAVE extremely different time scales. Some do a turn a week, some in a month, etc. I want the GA to arbitrate this. A predetermined timeout could be programmed BUT has not in this release.

Thank you

Marshall, would it not be possible to make this a game setting selection that could be agreed by the players and selected at the beginning of the game? Otherwise, the GA becomes a weakspot in the completion of the game. What happens if the GA's country gets knocked out of the game or his country is doing poorly? Do the other players have to throw him/her bones to keep them in the game or can the game go on without the PA?

Yes; we need the rules ASAP. Finally, I hope to make this a Christmas present to myself and play over the Christmas break. Please have it done by then, even if we have to sacrifice a few testers due to overwork (think the Pyramids).[8|]

Am I hearing the cries of mutany as we approach the one year mark of the original release date?[X(] We must continue to be patient, if we want to have a great gaming experience with this game. I have faith that they will have this game completed in a timely manor, but only after they have tuned it properly.[:)]
