Install Trouble

Post by poerr »

I purchased HTTR via mail order from Matrix a couple of years ago - for some reason niether my CD or DVD drives will read this disk and then let me run the install. I have a WIN XP system and up to this point I had no trouble. Ideas welcome.

Thanks,

Russ

Russ,

Welcome.

Please confirm you are trying to read the original CD from the boxed version - ie it has an official HTTR CD label?

Can you read another data disk - eg from another game?

Please send DX report - see http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=549746

Hi

I am installing my old copy of HTTR (boxed CD) on my XP laptop and it locks up at the point where it is generating icons.

When I look at the directory, everything seems there but there are no registry entries - I suspect that is really where it is locking up.
When I try to run it from the installed directory, it complains that it hasn't been installed.
This PC is where most of my Matrix Games are currently.

I have no issue installing (and running) it on my Vista laptop from the same media. Even if I try using this PC's CD drive, I get to the same lock up point.

Thanks
Michael

Michael,

That really is odd. You say it works under vista but not under PC. Is that from the same installer package? If so, then this is a first to my knowledge. I'm about to leave for the US tomorrow. So I'll have to leave this for Paul to follow up on.

Not worry.
I've downloaded your new game (BoftB) to play around with.

I'll toy with the older game (HTTR) on the PC I could install it on.
