Chancellorsville

Post by Zaratoughda »

I purchased Chancellorsville in the last week and am having problems.

When I initially downloaded it got it up no problem. But, I then tried to update it from the startup page and there was an error and I had to abort and installed the update manually. Then, when I brought the game up the text in the main menu and in the game... was blank. The selections still worked but there was no text.

Did an uninstall and erased the folder and other files that I found (looked but didn't touch anything in the registry) and managed to get the game to come up WITH the text again. But, what I then found out, with a lot of testing, is the game came up OK the first time but then had the 'no text' problem after that.

There was a file generated, COWCV.LOG I believe, that contained the following:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game Launched
00:21:14 Version:SOWCV
1.5001
00:21:15 PR: (ERROR) File: ..\..\Core\PR_Engine.cpp
Line: 480
Error: D3DERR_INVALIDDEVICE

00:21:16 Loading Defined Lists
00:21:16 Initializing
00:21:16 Ansi:16, TexH:16384, TexW:16384
00:21:16 SowCV Loaded
00:21:16 00:21:16
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you help me on this?

If the above was referring to my CPU, I have an intel i5-8400 2.8 ghz. I would think should be no problem there.

OK, THAT worked!

Tried the compatibility troubleshooter first and that went with Win 8, but that didn't work. So, manually went with Win 7 as you suggested and that worked. First time setting compatibility has done anything for me.

Many thanks!
