Best scenario for a beginner

Post by danielrwatkins »

Hello all.

I just purchased and installed Flashpoint Red Storm and am looking for advice on a short scenario to learn on.

I'm not new to wargames or Cold War just Flashpoint.

Thanks,

Dan

I'd recommend playing the tutorial scenario several times until you feel confident with the system. Next on the list would be A Time To Dance, is it is short but very intense and quite enjoyable! Black Horse is also a short scenario that is quite fun and you'll learn a great deal once you play through it a couple of times.

Thanks Sarge, that was quick!

I must have missed the tutorial scenario and now feel...dumb! I live/work on board a ship and started the game up just before we got underway to make sure the install worked. I will give it a try when I get off watch tonight.

Welcome aboard, Dan!

The tutorial pretty much utilizes all of the mechanics of the game. The WEGO system tied with the command cycles takes a little re-think from UGO-IGO games, but it makes this game rather unique. Time spent mastering the tutorial will be very useful later! [:D]

I found this list on another forum. Explains what the letters mean! (the comments after the list are not mine)

A1 A Time To Dance
A2 Blackhorse
A3 Head On
A4 The Herd
A5 12 Bravo
A6 A Test of Wills
A7 Dawn's First Light
A8 Ate Up
WG1 Pied Piper
WG2 KG Rommel
WG3 The Witches Cauldron
B1 Rhino
B2 Hell's Crossroads
B3 Strike First
B4 Thor's Hammer

If the scenario name starts with an H it's been balanced for Head to Head play. If it starts with an N it's been balanced to be played as the NATO play vs the AI. If it starts with a W it's been balanced to be played as the Soviet player vs the AI.

A Time To Dance was specifically made as the introductory scenario. Barring that play any of the smaller scenarios that strike your fancy. IMO, they are all well balanced and should give you competitive game play.
