Re: Berlin NSS Weekly "Sent" Freight Tonnage.

Make a depot in every town with a railyard and set them all to priority 4. Excellent advice. I follow it religiously. It's not always the best strategy to set every depot to priority 4. However, if you're looking to maximize the amount of freight coming from the NSS, here's what you need to know. T...

Re: How the Ground Element Map works

Bonus tip: rifle squad counting Many of you are probably familiar with using the Formation Inventory in the CR HQs tab. For example, here's a look at Guderian's tanks at the beginning of GC41: Formation inventory Guderian AFVs.png However, something you might not know is that the Formation Inventor...

How the Ground Element Map works

Ground Element Map.png I've recently figured out how the Ground Element Map screen works in this game and wanted to share my findings with the community! It took me a while to understand it, as I was initially confused and thought it was inaccurate. Here's how it actually works: • The dark grey &qu...

[CLOSED] Anything but GC41

Experienced player coming back from a break, looking to have some fun playing either side in any unmodified campaign or scenario, with the exception of GC41, which I consider unbalanced. Please send me a private message if interested. No temporary motorization.

Re: strange behavior of Soviet aviation

It looks like your opponent is running some missions and your fighters auto-intercept. Auto-intercept can draw fighters from any air groups that are in range and not resting. To avoid fighting, you can either set your fighters on rest or pull them out of range.

Re: resupply air bases

Air bases get supplied during the logistics phase and normally you don't need to do this. However, sometimes it's possible that you fly a lot of missions from some bases, and they run low on supply. When this happens, you can resupply them manually, if you have enough trucks in the pool and some fre...

Re: Sov ID with 14 mp on turn 1?

I've run a quick test with T1 and got 6 soviet infantry units with 14-16 MPs. Not at all impossible for a unit that was not attacked and is within command range of corps and army HQs.

Re: Romanian Role?

Use Axis Minors as cannon fodder. They have very low firepower, but they generate a lot of manpower (which is wasted if you send them all to TB) and have a good capacity to absorb hits. On the offensive give them some extra firepower (German pioneers and/or air support) and use them to clear pockets...

Re: Game quits responding in the middle of the play.

I just discovered that pressing shift-S saves the game to server, even when the screen is black and unresponsive. It might also work for non-server games!

Re: Quick Questions Thread

Hasty attacks with tanks work pretty well. If you don't have tanks readily available you can also attach StuG SUs. If you really need to do a deliberate attack, your best bet is to support it with multiple arty SUs named "gun" or "cannon" in order to outrange them.

Re: Game results - Tell us how your 2 player game ended

I actually took a look at this game on the server a few days ago. I noticed the 6th army had not been pocketed, which is a disaster for the Soviet player. Based on what I saw, it looked like the Soviet player was inexperienced, at least with this scenario. I'd really like to see this game played by...

Re: Game results - Tell us how your 2 player game ended

Drama on the Danube versus server opponent, not sure about their experience level, v. 1.02.52. Soviets resigned on T7. After a slow start to the Soviet offensive the bulk of 6th Army was extracted from isolation and the Hungarians held the mountain passes. The retreating 6th Army took Bucharest whil...

Re: Where the Iron Crosses Grow: K62 (Axis) vs Veterin (Soviet) GC41

Very smart play, thanks! What was your truck situation at the end, K62? The truck situation was pretty good. I didn't take a snapshot of losses but here is the T4 turn summary: turn summary.png If you add it all up I have about 4k less trucks than on T1, which is a 1% loss. But I did have 22k in re...

Re: Where the Iron Crosses Grow: K62 (Axis) vs Veterin (Soviet) GC41

Well I know that…but why never set a depot to 0 east of Berlin? Doesn’t setting a depot to 1 hold supply in that depot? Why have depots in Poland set at 1 in ‘41-‘42? Most real-life logistical systems use intermediate depots and WitE2 does a good job of simulating this. Priority 1 depots don't take...

Game Conclusion

My respected opponent has chosen to concede the game at this point. He highlighted several reasons for his decision: the early capture of Bryansk, a notable absence of Soviet units south of Orel, and having 300,000 men isolated in pockets. From my perspective, while the Axis side has established an ...
